I'm still a bit confused about this subject.

Should I book my entire trip through AAA or should I book through WDTC using the AAA code for a room-only discount. What's the bigger savings?

I like the idea of booking through Disney directly but also AAA gives you certain little perks.

What's a girl to do?!:confused3

If you like the perks -- most of them through AAA are only available if you book through AAA. If you are booking room only I don't know that there are many perks associated with that -- mostly they are associated with the packages. For us, if it were room only we would call Disney CRO and book through them.

On the other hand, there are many agencies that will provide additional services at no charge such as making your ADRs, additional activity reservations, etc. that AAA doesn't typically provide. If you don't have the time or haven't done this before it may be smart to use an agency that does this. We have used a couple that are good and you can PM me if you are interested.

Are you kidding?! That's the best part!:woohoo:

if you're doing a room only, i'd do it myself through WDTC. package, go through AAA (AAA is the only one who can give you the AAA room discount on a package anyway).

by going to a TA, you have to go through the TA. CRO won't ever deal with you directly. with the TA, you're typically dealing with one agent in particular which is a double edged blade. sometimes you may luck out and get someone who knows what they're talking about, but you can get the opposite extreme too. especially at AAA travel who deals with everything, not just Disney.

So if I book my entire package through CRO, they can't give me a AAA room discount? I read they might have some codes?...

that is correct. if you book a room only, any TA can give you the AAA discount, but to book a package with the discount is exclusive to AAA

of course you only need the package if you plan on getting the DDP

We do plan on getting the DDP, so I guess AAA it is!
Thanks for clarifying!:goodvibes

If you are going for a room only reservation, you can still book directly with Walt Disney and get the AAA discount (if you are a member). They set a certain number of rooms aside for this discount.

I always book directly because, for me, the perks don't outweigh me being able to book my ADRs myself. To me, it is too hard to communicate to someone else what would the best times/days for certain restaurants and if those weren't available, alternate choices.

For the free dining package offer this year, did AAA give a discount beyond the "discount" of free dining?

Even if you book your package through AAA, you can still make your ADR's yourself. You just can't make any changes to your reservation without going through AAA.

I like booking through AAA and we went through two agents (the first left after a while). If you are informed about disney , it's usually easy to find an agent. You can feel them out and see if they know what they are talking about. I personally love the perks. I just booked storytime for my kids for our upcoming vacation.

free dining is a discount and generally speaking, discounts do not stack so I do not believe it's possible to get both free dining and the AAA room discount.

If you want the discount, go through AAA.
If you want the ability to have total ownership over your reservation, go direct to Disney.

This is a better fit on the Resorts & Booking board.. rather than here on themeparks.. I'll be moving this over there for you.

Thanks,

I was wondering about one aspect of this. Regardless of whether I've booked my package thru AAA or Disney, if I have my reservation number, can I log into Disney and make a payment or do I have to go thru AAA?
