For next year we are looking at April (not Easter) or the first week of June...which is better for crowds? TIA!

When you find out let me know. Last April was wonderful. So far this April is a zoo. DVC is completely booked for the rest of April. DW said yesterday that it was less crowded last Christmas. Soar'n is a 90 min wait. DTD parking lots 1&2 were full by noon.

I have no firsthand knowledge one way or the other since we've haven't been either time period. I do know that around here (Northeast) we have "April Vacation" from schools. I don't know if other sections of the country have the same school schedule. I think if you're trying to plan around school calendars you'd get more people visiting in April from Northern states. We usually don't finish the school year until mid-June. I'd say early June would be less crowded (?). I could be totally wrong though :confused3 .

I am thinking it may be safer to go our usual Sept/early Oct. timeframe which is our favorite...We can't stand to be at WDW when it's nutty...takes away all of the fun for us!

Easter is a two week period (leading up to and of the week Easter falls in). April, not one of those two, will be crowded but nothing like those two Easter weeks. Early June will likely be somewhat less crowded with a caveat: that is the usual time of year for the gay crowd to go to WDW; this year it is June 3 to 9. They usually have a particular park designated for a particular day, along with scheduled meets for other activities such as Paradise Island. Some may consider that an issue.

Having traveled to FL in each of the twelve months, I would warn you that June is going to start to be the "steamy" time of year. I love March and April down there as the days are usually warm but not too humid and the nights just a touch cool. MMMM, perfecto!

At any time of year you could hit large groups that might be problematic, but don't let them spoil your plans. Just plan around them. And, who knows, you might even bump into DVC'ers there during Gay Days. Guess it depends on what you consider an issue.

Have a great trip, whenever!

Also, I don't know about up North, but schools here in Alabama are out in late May, so all of June is during Summer Vacation, so that may make it busier. Spring Break here is usually in March, regardless of where Easter falls. In 2009, for instance, our spring break is March 16-20 (I know b/c that is when we are headed to WDW).

DD & i went during the first week of june last year. definately not a slow time.
btw, we avoided whichever was the "park of the day" posted on the website for gay week, figuring crowds would be lower at the other parks. would've been a great plan except that it is simply a moderately busy time of year :confused3 (for us, it being "gay days" was a non-issue except for the crowds).
mostly the daytime weather was beautiful (warm, but not hot), with some rainy days/nights, as well as one night where it literally poured for hours (not being able to see more than a foot or two "pouring"), & became very chilly.
we've gone repeatedly in aug thru oct, & i think it rained more in that trip than any of the other ones in "hurricane season" :confused3

we just took advantage of EMHs (parks were gloriously empty at night:cloud9: ), and actually used ponchos :scared: lol.
we (DH & i) are going the first week of may, & are hoping for lower crowds (like the "good old days";) )

I can't say about April but the first week of June is pretty busy but not as busy as later in June. Some schools are already out in early June but some are not. As far as Gay Days goes I've never had it be a factor for our trips, I'd just say stay away from Mk on the first Saturday of June because of extra crowds.

April is wonderful weather in Florida when most of the rest of the east coast is still chilly. First week of June many of the east coast schools have not yet retired for the year. I would go for the first week of June.
