Has anyone used an in-room sitter recently? Recommendations?
I have 2 dds, 4 and 9, who'll need to get to sleep by 8 p.m. on our date night.
Thanks - kayt

Sorry, I haven't used the in-room sitters - but we have used Simba's Clubhouse at AKL and the Clubhouse at Wilderness Lodge. My DD really had a great time at both!!!

We have used Fairy Godmothers 4 times in the past 3 years for our DD. We plan on using them for our DD who will be 4 years old in August. Never had a problem with them. We have had 3 sitters and they were great!

We've used Fairy Godmothers about six times...always been happy with them.

We've been using Fairy Godmothers for years! My girls were 3 and 5 the first they met Gertrude. She was their sitter several times after that.
The girls are now 14 and 16, and we no longer need a sitter, but they have often talked about the "Granny type" Gertrude. She's wonderful................:teeth:

I wanted to find out more too - so I'm bumping up this topic ;)

We got our info from WDW and they recomend Kids Nite Out. I've called Kid's Nite out and they are actually contracted with Disney. I spoke with the Director. He said the baby sitters go through Disney Training as well as their own training. And they all go through background checks and reference checks. So that made me feel better. Also he said they can not take any chances to lose their contract with Disney. So everything seems to be on the up and up with them....

Any experiences with Kids Nite Out?

The people who have used Kids Nite Out have liked them, as I recall from these boards. You might want to try a search for past messages on the family board for Kids Nite Out.

We decided to use Fairy Godmothers because of all the good reports on these boards, and since we've had such good experiences with them ourselves now, we see no reason to switch. As people have pointed out, Kids Nite Out is the Disney-sanctioned service, with training and the like. It's also more expensive than FGs. And with FGs, there are fewer sitters but they tend to have worked for FG for years, so we were comfortable with that.

I'm sorry to say that I used Fairy Godmothers and had a not very good experience. We used them on our 2002 trip when the kids were 9, 4, and 2. The sitter, according to our 9-yr-old (who generally likes babysitters) was very unattentive, spent most of her time on the phone, and just tried to make them watch TV. The younger kids also reported not liking her. The sitter had asked if she could use the phone to call her mother to let her know when she'd be home and I said that was fine. We found out at the end of our stay (this was at a Marriott condo) there were several phone charges from that evening that we hadn't made (we never used the room phone, just our cell phones). I guess we just had bad luck, given that most people seem to like them so much. Sorry I don't remember the sitter's name, but it was 2 years ago, so hopefully she's gone. If I were going to use any in-room service again, I would ask lots of questions, like how long the sitter has been with the service and if they've had any complaints or compliments on that sitter. Good luck to you!

snoozn:mad:

We used Kids Nite Out and had a great experience. We based our decision based on what the other poster said about their Disney training as well. I think you'd be happy with either company. Good luck!!

DH & I have to work one day of our trip at an expo. DD-22 is supposed to be coming, but she forgot to tell work & may not be able to come. So would these "in-room" baby sitters be able to take the kids (DS-11 & DD-9) to the resort pool? Or do they just stay in the room?
