Which II resorts in Hawaii/Caribbean have 3 bedrooms?

Trying to find out which II resorts in Hawaii/Carr. have 3 bedrooms available for a vacation. The website is REAL vague on the subject, and MS is closed. Just thought someone might have an idea of which resorts would sleep 8?

P.S. I WISH MS would have a more IN DEPTH resort
"snapshot" of the II resorts.... Gesssh.. This is the 21st century!!

Also, any experts as to what resorts to look for? We are going on an anniversay trip (25th) with 2 other couples, maybe a 3rd couple, so we need lots of beds!!
Looking at caribbean, or Hawaii (if airfare is not too high).
Also, what are the chances of getting a good exchange? Looking at 2005, April, June, July, Thanksgiving week. (PPSS, I know, it is NOT the best use of pts, but for that 1 time we do use II, just wanted to know what is close to DVC quality.

I think the only location with 3 BR in HI is One Napili Way, Kona Coast, Sands of Kahana and the Embassy on Kauai. You can find out more about all these resorts and more at Timeshare Users Group (TUG)

If that's what I needed, I'd just rent a condo somewhere. You may do far better or it may work out better to get 2 units. You're chances of getting a 3 BR for HI are about as close to zero as on can get.

There are a number of resorts in the Caribbean that have 3 BR however most don't get deposited as such due to the usual lockout nature of resorts in the Caribbean. Again, you will likely be better getting multiple units and/or doing a rental. Good luck.

Remember that many 2 BR will sleep 6 or 8 people though I know it would be better with privacy for 3 BR.

Thanks Dean for your quick response. Your knowledge of timeshares/exchanges is invaluable! Don't know what we are going to do yet, just checked air prices to Hawaii (for 04,not 05), it is rough to say the least from $850-$1100 from Atlanta.OUCH!

Although it is an RCI exchange traded resort, Hilton Hawaiin Village on Waikiki has 3brs. I just stayed in a 3br/4bth ocean front penthouse the first week of Dec. 03. It was fabulous.

If you want to fly into Maui, don't expect the prcies to decrease much. IMO, air fare is far more criticle than the room issue. My favorite approach for a place like HI or Aruba where air seems to be such an issue is to start looking well in advance for what I want. If I am planning on using FF miles or a specials for air comes up that fits my needs, I go ahead and book it. Then I change my search parameters for the exchange or rental for the dates I now need. I also make a cancellable rental reservation for those dates. If you want HI, I would think you're going to be best off with a rental of a house or larger condo. Your chances of success are at all good for an exchange and if you do, it's going to costs you 350 or so DVC points. My guess is you can rent exactly what you want for less than the value of those points. Even if you have to rent them out, you'll break even or be better off without all the haassle and waiting that will come with this attempted exchange. There is certainly no reason not to just look for a direct exchange or through DVC, you can always say no if it comes up and you don't need it.

I couple of more tidbits. Cliff's club is the only one with 4 BR and for some reason it doesn't come up on II when you search for 3 BR. I didn't mention the other with 3 BR which is also below, it's the Worldmark Kihei, on both II and RCI but it's not on the DVC list last I knew. This does illustrate a point I've made a number of times. Lets say one 3 BR is going to be deposited by a person. They might deposit with RCI or II for dually affiliated resorts or with any one of a number of smaller independent exchange companies. If it's a lockoff they will usually break it apart and deposit as two smaller units.

The only problem with that, (and I did think of it),I go ahead with a search, and it costs 75 dollars I think. How do you coordinate with the search and airfare (seeing that airfare only goes out 330 days or so!
In other words: thanksgiving 05 I want or June 05, i start a search now (increasing chances), but have to wait till June,July for airfare, now I am stuck with a specific week- And then what happens?? Do I cancel my ressie with II, I am even allowed to do that? I thought once a match is found, that is it.... Please elaborate....

You pay up front but under most circumstances they will refund if you cancel before you accept an exchange, II has done it like this for years. The air fare is far more criticle so you just search until around the time air fares are available then you grab the air that fits your needs. If the air prices aren't good, you keep looking then if somethign comes up, you look at air and see if it fits your needs and desires. You are not likely to get much of a discount from Atlanta unless maybe through priceline or the like or you use a charter.

First, other than KCR, you will not match more than a year out so you should know pretty much what you're looking at by the time you might match. You can cancel but don't get your points back, lose your exchange fee and only have a year to secure and stay for an alternate week. But since DVC will call you and ask you if you want the match, there's absolutely no harm in looking then if they call, reconsider and proceed accordingly. If you get a unit that fits your needs and desires, you can always take a chance on air fare. Exchanging is gambling to a certain extent and is not for the faint of heart. Those that must know everything at one time a full year out should stay in the shallow end.

I may have not read this right but are there 3 bedroom HI resorts listed in the exchanges with II? I thought that we only have the options to trade into 2 bedrooms. I would really like a 3 bedroom but didn't think that was an option. Also, Dean, do you know a website that list condo or home rentals. I found one for Maui. It was really expensive per night but the homes were just beautiful. I plan on 8 people going wheneve we go. I have tried tug but they only have a few listed for 8 people. Thanks in advance for any info.

Actually you can technically exchange into anything from a studio to a 3 BR. The list in the book is for only 1 and 2 BR units but there are actually tables for studios through 3 BR. In the past it was only 2 BR points for a 3 BR but that has changed. I don't know of specific sites for rentals. I'd search the net and I'd go to TUG and ask there. There's also someone on DIS that owns a condo and uses a company, they should be able to help as well. They've offered it for direct exchange to so to the trade board and search for hawaii threads over the past 6 months or so or just post for info.
