Good Neighbor and Disney. My friend and I are thinking about going in Feb '09 (midwinter break but avoiding President's Day) and would like a room that accommodates 6. I am thinking of upgrading my PH to an AP to get the discounts (also that will give me an excuse to possibly go again in Nov ;) ) and would like to stay at a Disney hotel.

I am turning into a DL junkie :woohoo: :rotfl:

Our group of seven stayed very comfortably at the Residence Inn Main Gate over Christmas. The room had an upstairs loft with a king bed and bathroom, downstairs it had a bedroom with a queen bed, another bathroom and there was a sofabed in the living room area. The full kitchen was a definite benefit as was the breakfast that was included each morning. They have a great breakfast buffet with hot and cold breakfast foods. These room can be pricey, but once I figured in the amount I was saving with the breakfast and the kitchen it made it worth while. This property is not really close enough to walk. I would definitely use ART to get back and forth.
This property gets a big thumbs up from me!!:thumbsup2

From our research you have to decide how important the following things are to your group of 6.

Do you HAVE to be able to walk?
If the answer is yes than BWPPI has gotten really good reviews and is okay on the budget. The Camelot also has rooms that sleep 6 but is pretty pricey (IMHO)

Do you want a lot of space?
Most of the hotels with actual suites (ie more space and kitchen) are not within walking distance. Some have either seperate areas (loft) or doors you can shut between rooms so you can have some privacy.

How much are you willing to spend?
If money is no object you can find all sorts of room configurations. If you want to go budget then you have less options.

I like to check prices via getaway today. You can put in 6 guests and then see the basic prices of hotels that sleep 6. And you can look at pictures of the room layouts. Even if you don't book with them it's a good place for information on a lot of hotels in a single location. For our trip next month we decided to trade the ability to walk for a free hot breakfast and bigger rooms with an actual door that shuts between the living room/bedroom. We are at the Homestead Suites by Hilton in Garden Grove. I'll let you know how our stay was when we get back.

I believe that all the "regular" rooms at the DLR Hotels can accomodate UP TO FIVE people. Six people, you'd be looking at two rooms or a suite...which is a TON MORE $$.

It's not a good neighbor but it is nice, clean, close and inexpensive. Desert Inn and Suites!!! Right across the street. You could probably fit 6 people in a parlor a suite, 2 queens and a fold out couch and we are paying $79 a night for that in Dec (same rates in Oct that's when we were going to go) and they have a free continental breakfast. Can't go wrong there:thumbsup2

How about getting adjoining rooms at HoJo's? If the Entertainment rate ($59 standard or $74 Disney View) is available, which it should be in Feb., you could have 2 rooms,... 4 queen beds, 2 baths. I would definitely be excited about a HoJo bed all to myself!!!!:thumbsup2

We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite at the Hyatt. It really wasn't that expensive, and it was much less than getting 2 rooms at Disneyland. By law, the fire marshall doesn't allow any more than 5 people in a room in Anaheim. It would have been convenient for us to get a rollaway bed, or take a sleeping bag, but you really aren't supposed to have that many people in the room. By having the suite, we had 4 beds, 3 tvs, and 2 bathrooms.
