Which hotels have ducks in pool

They were in the pool when we were at BLT but I only really noticed them unless there was no one in the pool. Like one PP stated I think the more people that show up then it startles them and they take off.

Never saw ducks when we stayed at AKL. At WL in August the main pool was closed at one point because of duck poo. DW and DD went to the quiet pool instead.

I wouldn't be worried about a couple ducks in the pool anymore than young kids swimming in the pool.:cool1::banana:

While Ducks enjoy all WDW Pools,it is my understanding they prefer the Duck Pond Pool at All-Star Movies.;):)

Duck excrement is the least of your worries in the Disney pools.

This thread cracks me up.

I guess those of you who are grossed out, never swim in fresh water lakes or rivers? Or the ocean? I hate to break it to you, but those waterfowl and fish have rectums too.

Maybe ducks don't poo while they are swimming? Does anyone know this? :confused3

Oh yeah they do. And it's disgusting. DD raised a pair last year and they are dirty, dirty birds.

I don't think it's really helpful to tell people to "grow up" just because they aren't interested in swimming with ducks. I don't use the pools at all but I can understand why someone would find it distasteful. Swimming in the ocean just seems more acceptable since it's such a vast amount of water to disperse any, umm, output! Not totally rational but there ya go!:rotfl:

Nah, way more stuff living, and doing things, in the ocean...

YC/BC closed the pool down several times due to ducks being in the water. I didn't mind one bit while they redid the chemicals because of the nasty crap the ducks put in the water. Also, the lifeguards would try to scare the ducks out of the water, but it didn't always work because a lifeguard can't jump in the pool to scare a duck. However, my family can and we did it. You should have seen the ducks take off. Some people got on to our kids for doing this, but we gave our kids a high five in front of them and encouraged them to keep chasing the ducks. Then we educated the people on duck poo in pools.

CSR had ducks in the pool this August for our trip. Didn't see any ducks at the Contemporary pool.

I swim very early in the morning and have seen ducks in every pool except for Saratoga Springs.

I haven't stayed at Saratoga Springs yet. :)

There are ducks in all the pools.

On occasion, drunk people poop in the pools, too. True dat. ::yes::

I've never seen them in the pool at CBR, but I have seen them by the pool bar. Maybe they enjoy the cocktails better there than the pool. :lmao:

We don't swim in the Disney pools.....we have a pool at home and let the kids swim in it all summer so we don't see the need to go swimming on vacation unless we go to the beach or something. To answer the OPs question though...there are ducks in the POP pools :)

Funny how they don't mind the chlorine, when we get frogs or chipmunks in our pool at home they do not stay very long before the chlorine drugs them and they can't swim so we have to get them out with the net. With it being as dry as it's been this summer, we've seen a lot of creatures in our pool....wonder what Disney cleans out of the pools with all that wildlife around at night. Snakes? Mice?

Yeah ... the number of critters that end up in there is the well-kept secret of every backyard pool owner. We've pulled frogs, mice and chipmunks from ours. And, yes, ducks swim around in there every once in a while ... particularly at the beginning and end of the season as they travel to and from warmer climbs. I can't imagine how you could stop this from happening. I actually looked it up ... what it boils down to is that there is nothing to worry about in a well-tended pool from visiting critters. Now, floating dropping would be gross ... but I honestly have never seen such a thing. It's amazing how quickly the water filters through a home pool ... and I'm sure they have amazing uber-filters at Disney!

We have stayed at All Star Movies, Pop Centry, Coronado, Caribbean Beach, Port Orleans Riverside, Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Saratoga, Shades of Green, Swan, Beach Club, and the Poly and we've seen ducks in the pools at all of them. I don't think you should base your resort decision on the ducks. It seems no matter which resort you choose you will run into the chance that there will be ducks in the pool at some point. The resorts we saw the most ducks at were Wilderness Lodge and Beach Club.

Have seen ducks all over Disney-we've stayed at or visited nearly every resort, and have seen ducks in all pools, even those with people in them...every body of water has had birds...including the fountains at parks, the pools, the lakes, the canals, whatever. You will not avoid ducks even if you stay out of the water...most of the birds around Disney are very much used to humans and do not flee when people get close (try eating at an outdoor table at counter-service restaurants in the parks--you may be surrounded by birds. No matter how many signs are around some fool will feed the flying rodents.)

Sure, nature is gross. Don't swim if you don't want exposure to animal waste-products (including human animals.)

all of the above....you seriously think they haven't fished a gator or two out as well?

they have...probably much more than you think. but there animal control department is excellent and they do a hell of a job of keeping the hundreds of thousands of animals on WDW property out of view as much as possible...

remember...it was and still is a swamp
