Which hotels have ducks in pool

I know some people think this is cute, but I don't like duck poo in water (or the time it would take the hotel to shut down the pool to clean). Which hotels' pools have seen ducks? I know WL (we are booked there for now). What about pop or the port orleans? thanks!

I am not a fan either. I think it's disgusting. The Wilderness Lodge always has ducks in the pool and the lifeguards like them there. My husband was in the pool and 3 ducks were right in there beside him. He tried to shoo them away and got yelled at by a lifeguard. The guard told him they like the ducks in the pool. At the Poly, ducks come and go off and on but the lifeguards will shoo them away on their own and don't get mad if you do.

I've only stayed at the deluxes and I've pretty much seen them at every deluxe (except at the Poly, which I've never stayed). I've honestly never seen poo in the pools and every time I've seen a pool shut down (at stromalong bay) it's been due to baby diapers.

I'd worry more about humans than ducks as in general most animals are a lot cleaner than humans.

I don't mind them. After all, we humans can be pretty dirty and disgusting too- more than one kid or adult has peed in that pool and told no one. Don't even get me started on hot tubs.

So, for me a little duck poo is nothing.:)

We just got back from Pop about a week ago. We only went to the pool on one day & yes, there were ducks in there. People would try to shoo the ducks out, but the lifeguards would make them stop :confused3

The Poly had ducks when we were there. A momma duck and her babies which was quite cute. Also some other type of duck which the lifeguards actually warned us could be aggressive so steer clear.

For what it is worth, I didn't see any "poo" and the pool was gorgeous. I didn't see any around the pool either. I think much worse would be found swimming in a lake...

I'm pretty sure every Disney pool has ducks at one time or another. I can't think of any pool where we've stayed where I didn't see ducks in the morning at least once. I think you have to deal with it or don't swim. They don't close the pool to clean for duck poo that I have ever seen - I don't think it's really much of an issue.

Since ducks fly, I don't think they can control them getting into the pool. They just think it's a pond!

When we stayed at AKL Jambo House, the main pool always had ducks in it, which grossed me out. This year we stayed at CBR and only saw ducks in the Jamaica quiet pool (never in the main pool) and I even saw duck poo in the pool :scared1:, which REALLY grossed me out! Any kind of poo is not cool for me!

The 3 ducks that were in the WL next to my husband were just ewww. At first we were like aww look ducks! Then they started pooping and it was just nasty. My husband took his hands and waved them toward the ducks to get them out and that's when the lifeguard yelled at him. I used to have pet ducks when I was little and they are very dirty and the poo smelled awful. Very nasty. They don't close the pools down but the Poly one doesn't seem to keep them in very long. The ducks at the WL seem to hang out all day. LOL

Oh boy! crazy stuff. Sounds like there is no use avoiding one hotel over the other then (although no one has mentioned the port orleans pools yet). Thanks to everyone for replying!

I agree. I don't think there is a way for Disney to keep the ducks out. Ducks can be quite aggressive which is probably why the lifeguards don't want people shooing them.

Is it possible that these ducks are protected?

We have a very big problem with geese polluting our local pond, but they are protected so we can do nothing except making sure the laws of feeding these geese are enforced on people who put out large amounts of food for them.

There were ducks in the pool each AM at POR back in 2003. I think anywhere you go...there will be ducks.

If there's water... they will come.
I don't think the ducks are more fond of one pool than another. They don't care if it's in the shape of a giant guitar, bowling pin or fishing hole. If you aren't concerned with swimming in a lake or ocean, there's really no reason to be concerned with swimming with a duck. With the high chlorine levels, the pools are much cleaner than any natural body of water.
If you see a duck doing it's business, move to another section of the pool. Just make sure there isn't a child, or adult, taking care of their own business!

I have stayed at the following resorts..Beach Club, Beach Club Villas, Polynesiand and the grand floridian..there have been ducks in all the pools at one point or another.

Actually, I worry more about the ducks and the chemicals in the pools. I figure since it is Disney, there is more likely to be a pool closure due to human excrement than any bird poop.
