Which hotel?

I've stayed at CSR and All Star Sports.

CSR:
Things I liked: pool, grounds, food options, nice rooms
Things I didn't like: price, bus waits

All Star Sports:
Things I liked: price, bus wait times were minimal
Things I didn't like: pool, organized activities at the pool, food options, run down feel of the rooms

Last year, just my son (13 at the time) and I went on a 4night trip. At the time, my daughter didn't want to go. Well, now she has an interest in going. She had been when she was 2 and 5. She's now 11. So, i'm just starting to figure out when we'd go, etc.

Need help deciding on which resort to stay at. I'm on a pretty tight budget so can't stay deluxe. She's not into being hours and hours at the park. She wants to spend time away from the parks; swimming, etc.

What suggestion do you have for either value or moderate? I'm leaning toward moderate if I can afford it because of nicer pools and grounds.......

THANKS!

Take bus waiting time out of your equation. Bus service can be glitchy at every resort. Typically CSR has some of the best service, so trying to find better by switching resorts may not work the way you want it to. Also most, if not all, resorts have the pool games going on. So if they bug you the best thing is to hit one of the "quiet" or non themed pools.

I like POR for a moderate. It has a well themed pool area with a decent sized slide. It also has a peaceful feeling to it, which is a nice change from the hectic pace of the parks.

I agree with POR or POFQ (whichever has the best deal). In addition to both being lovely resorts, you can always hop on the boat taxi to DS for dinner or other activities.

I agree with maxiesmom: bus wait times can be hit or miss. At our last few deluxe resort stays, the bus service was actually not the best (long waits), and our stays at Pop almost always had a short wait!

I'd say have you looked into Pop (we enjoyed our stays there, but it was just my DD and me, except for 2 nights with my son). Sharing a double bed with her, while okay for just two nights, wouldn't be ideal for more than that. For that reason, since you have an 11 and a 13 year old, queen beds would be nicer to have. That being said, I've not stayed at a moderate as of yet. I just don't see the advantage being worth the price jump, but many do look cute. If it were me, I'd go with POFQ though, since it seems smaller and easy to get around. The grounds look peaceful.

You could also take a quick look at renting points for a studio or 1br at a DVC place (I've rented several times from owners but through redweek, which is often cheaper than renting points).

How about the Swan or Dolphin? They have a great pool and are walking distance to both Epcot and DHS -- and can usually be had for the price of a moderate if you get a good discount -- especially if you are a teacher or a nurse (if they still give those discounts). Just an FYI - there is no DME with these hotels, but you can do Mears transportation for 25 each I think.

This way you would have a deluxe for the price of a moderate.
