I am contemplating a mid September trip for my niece and I. I would like to stay at one of the DLR hotels just because that is what I am used to. I know that they have specials going right now for them, so I will look into that. Out of curiosity, I was wondering what other "good neighbor" hotels are within reasonable walking distance since we will not be renting a car? From what I understand, Fairfield Inn Anaheim is right across the street, am I correct? If the price is right I may be willing to for-go one of the DLR hotels.....any suggestions are welcomed...TY

I'm not sure if HoJo's is considered a "goodneighbor" property, but they're within walking distance. I would stay at the Paradise Pier Hotel if I were you. The child you are going with will love the waterslide, and you can still enjoy all the perks of being on-campus (magic mornings, having merchandise sent back to your room when you make purchases, etc.). The specials going on right now are great, on top of it.

Fairfield Inn isn't technically rigth across the street, but it is in walking distance. We've stayed there once - the upper rooms on the park side have great views into DL! It's a good 5-10 min walk over, but not bad at all. Given the discounts that are going on at DLR hotels right now, I think you'll get a good deal there - AND get all the perks of staying on property, early admission, package delivery, etc.

If you do decide to go good neighbor, I've stayed at would also recommend checking out HoJo and the Candy Cane Inn. Hojo has a cute Pirate themed water play area and we've had good customer service there. Candy Cane is quaint, serves a hot breakfast and has a shuttle to take you to the parks.

We have stayed at the Candy Cane Inn for 2 years and love it there. It's not a "resort"--the rooms are not huge by any means and the pool is smallish, but it's very close and has its own dedicated free shuttle if you don't feel like walking. I'm not a fan of ART--we used to stay at the Embassy Suites (Garden Grove) for years when they had their own shuttle, but after they switched to ART that was our last year there.

Haven't ever stayed at a DLR hotel (we're way too cheap, would rather spend the $$ elsewhere) so I'll let others give their opinion on that.

We've stayed at the Fairfield Inn before. It was clean and close. No problem to walk. This year I'm going with 5 girlfriends so we're staying at Desert Inn and Suites because they have a huge suite where we'll almost all get our own beds:banana:

I've also stayed on site. I loved it!! The hotels aren't any closer than those across Harbour Blvd but you are immersed in Disney at all times:lovestruc

Thank you all for your opinions...even GCH has great prices right now...hmmmm, desicions...desicions.

Thanks for the map BTW that is very useful. I never pay attention to the hotels on our way to DL, I get so excited that I'm there I can't pay attention to where they are :lmao:

Watch the DLR rates may not include the ticket packages.

I have stayed at the Fairfield 4 or 5 times and would be staying there this time except for the fact that Stovalls was $300 less for the same package (Costco).

All i typically REQUIRE in a hotel is good beds, safety, and quiet rooms. The Fairfield does this with little extra. No breakfast included (or really available). They have a small Pizza Hut inside that serves beverages and coffee, and has a couple video games. The is a small, expensive, gift shop and a big pool.

You can stand on the walkway by the upper rooms and see the fireworks show.

The Inn has food nearby and is a short walk from the front gates.

Where counting down under 30 days, untill we check Into Candy Cane Inn:cool1:. We canceled our RES at DLR, and went with CCI. Wantede to stay there but even with the great rate, we just could not justfy because the amount of time that we are In the room. Unlike WDW, the DLR just does not offer enough extras to make It worth It, no dought it would be fun, maybe next time If we decide to spend more time around the resort.
