Hi all ! I was thinking about staying at a DL hotel for our DL trip..... which one should we pick?

How long to walk to DTD and the parks from each DL hotel.

If we don't stay at a DL hotel, what off-site hotel is best? I was thinking Tropicana because it looks like it's easy walking to the parks.

Advice pls? Sandra

The DLR (Disneyland Resort) hotels are: Grand Californian (GCH), Disneyland Hotel (DLH), and Paradise Pier Hotel (PPH). The walk from the GCH to DL is about a minute and to DCA, less because there's an entrance to DCA for GCH guests that is actually inside the hotel. DTD is right out of the lobby, so no long walk there either.

For the DLH, the walk to the parks is through DTD. At most 5 minutes to DL and DCA. Plus the monorail stop in DTD is very close to the DLH, so (especially after a long day of walking) you can take the monorail in or out of the park. (although not many people on here recommend taking it in at the beginning of the day).

For the PPH, the walk is maybe a minute or two longer than at the DLH.

For us the Grand Californian is perfect, hands down.

When we stay on site we love the original Disneyland Hotel the walk is easy in the morning and also at night when we are exhausted. When we stay off-site we like to stay at the best western park place inn, it is just across the street about as far as the DL Hotel.

We stayed at DPP last year and have it booked this year too. We stayed conceirge which we are this year too, not sure of these rooms are different from the standard rooms or not, but the room was great, large, comfy beds and space. We loved it, nice and clean and not that far to walk we enjoyed it. I have heard complaints about the elevators, since there is only the 3 they can be slow, but we rarely used them. We like it and it is cheaper then the others.

The Topicana is a great offsite hotel, we stayed there a few years go with my parents. We had 2 adjoining rooms with a kitchenette in between it was great since there were 4 of us kids. The best part of course though is that you are right across the street from DL and DCA, you're right at the main crosswalk. If you're staying offsite I would definetly recommend this hotel.
