Ok, so I have been to Disney World 14 times since I was a young child. I am now 20 and my girlfriend and I are thinking about going for our spring break because it is such a great time. I have always stayed at places such as the Yacht and Beach club with my family but the price for 6 nights there is a lot for two college students when adding on all the other fees for the park tickets and everything. I was just wondering if anyone had an opinion on the three moderate hotels meaning Carribean Beach, Coronado Springs, and Port Orleans and which one would be the best in general and as far as location...and just everything goes. Thanks! If anyone has any other advice I'd love to hear it!

I think you should pick the one you with the theme you like best. They all have good and less good points, but they honestly aren't THAT different, so it comes down to theme, IMO. You really can't go wrong.

That said, my preference, in order: CSR, CBR, POFQ, POR.

CSR!! Check out my CSR website for pics and info below. CSR has quick rides to all the parks and does not share transportation with any other resort.

I have stayed at CSR, & it was a nice resort. My brother stayed at POFQ, & he really liked it a lot too. A friend of mine stayed at CB, & they said it had a feel of a motel 6. You will have a great time no matter what.

I've stayed at both Coronado Springs and Port Orleans Riverside. They are both extremely similar as far as the pools, the layout of the hotels, food and buses. As for theme, I liked POR much better - it just felt more "Disney" to me. Either way, you can't go wrong.

I agree.

Disney's resorts have themes.

I would choose the theme that most appealed to my family and try it out.

CBR has the wonderful beach area.

POFQ has the New Orleans look.

POR has the Ab section and the Mansions with the deep south look.

And CSR has the southwest look.
--------------------------------------------------------
Here is my list of the differences-----

Mod vs Mod

'CBR is 340 square feet and the other mods are 314.

They are basically laid out the same but CSR only has 1 sink (the other have 2 sinks.)
CSR does not have a luggage seat.

Here is the layout of POR:

POFQ is not as spread out as the other mods or the values.

POR CBR and CSR are very spread out.

The mods have pool slides, a hot tub and a sit down restaurant (POFQ doses not have a sit down restaurant but shares with POR.)

POFQ and POR are concidered sister resorts so they share pools.

When staying at one of these resorts you can use the other resort's pool.
You can also refill your refillable mug at either of the food courts.

Some of the rooms at POR in the AB section have a trundle bed and can sleep 5.

---------------------------------------------------------
Transportation.

CBR has 7 bus stops.
CSR has 4 bus stops.
PO has 5 stops. 1st stop POFQ then 4 stops at POR.
POFQ & POR do have a boat to DTD.

----------------------------------------------------------
Elevators

CBR does not have elevators

CSR has elevators

POFQ has elevators

POR the AB section does not have elevators
POR the Mansions does have elevators

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Have fun at Disney!:wizard:

CSR does not share transportation like POR/POFQ and has the best pool/slide of all the mods. CSR also has a beach area. It's theme in a Mexican/southwest American theme. Great resort!

First of all Welcome to the DIS!!! You will find lots of great advice here.
I would choose POFQ. I find its themeing to be very romantic and I love the smaller size. Everything is convenient - the Food Court, the Pools, the Bus Stop.
You are also the first stop picked up in the morning and the first stop dropped off at night.
You will have a great time where ever you choose.

I've stayed at CBR and POR and loved both of them. I found CBR in no way to be similar to Motel 6, as a previous poster stated. The resort is themed beautifully. I love the tropical feel. POR is gorgeous as well, with lush landscaping and a Southern feel. I've also been down to POFQ and liked it as well. I would not mind staying there in the future.

For my next trip, I hope to stay at CSR. I haven't stayed there yet and the resort looks great. If it isn't available, CBR is my next choice.

Keep in mind, however, that CBR will be undergoing a pool refurbishment for much of next year. I don't know if that will alter your choice.

Port Orleans Riverside has the feel closest to the Beach club. It is a great resort and you still get the boat to DTD which is a nice trip.
Great food court and great restaraunt [Boatwrights Dining Hall] you can even do carriage rides at night.

My family's favorite moderate is now CSR. We stayed there last December and will stay there this December. We love POFQ for the small size and beignets, but the last two times there we tired of the bus service (Over filled and all the stops at POR) and I make beignets at home. We tried CSR and loved the theming, pool (Son is now 9 and prefers the slide), Pepper Market, and the bus service.

. Thanks! If anyone has any other advice I'd love to hear it!

college students then might try a value.

love Pop Century.

All Star music just finished a rehab and the rooms look wonderful.

All star sports is at present going through one (so avoid this until they are finished - they are saying Feb, but it might be April, so not good for spring break)

value resorts don't have a sit down restuarant, slide on the pool, generally not near water - although Pop does have a lake, not as much landscaping - as the moderates.

value have alot of people in a small space.

Pop would fit into the Polyn and Polyn would have room left over.

Poly has 847 rooms, Pop has 2,880 (until the second half is build).

:surfweb: My daughter liked the Coronado as compared to CBR, She liked the food better in the Maya Grill better than Shutters.

That being said, my order would be: POFQ (liked the theme, plus everything was closer together), CBR, POR, CSR. I think you will enjoy any one you choose!

Do any of the Moderates offer room service? Not pizza delivery, but actual room service?

College age spring breakers: POR or POFQ because the downtown disney/pleasure island water shuttle is such a perk. Will you be 21 in time for the trip?

If you are not into clubbing then they are equal and can be chosen by theme or pool preferences (well, that's how I judge these things).

Thank you everyone for your advice...but I am just curious...the reason I was leaning towards the CBR was because of its location which seems to be right in the middle of everything. Having stayed at the beach and yacht club, swan and dolphin, and the boardwalk...I know how centrally located and close those are to everything. I realize the CBR isn't in the exact same location but it seems to be the most centrally located of the moderate resorts. Does anyone have an opinion on that and then does anyone know when the remodeling or whatever of the pool will be done at the CBR?

Thanks!

CSR is more centrally located being only 5 mins from Epcot, AK and MGM and 10 mins from MK. See map below.

CBR pool is closing from 1/2008 to 6/2008.
