Planning 1st DL trip for next June, i'm clueless:guilty:

Current 1st choice is Ho Jo based on reviews; no Entertainment rate; rather pricey approx $150 night.

Thru an organizational rate/program thru my DHs employer, i'd be able to prepay either of the following hotels at approx 60% off rack rate for a standard room:

Clarion

or

Sheraton Park

The price is certainly right, do hate the thought of paying so far in advance, while it is cancellable there is a penalty. Should I jump on either offer or is it "no big deal":confused3

Appears as though both are a bit too far to walk to the parks, one of my initial criteria.

I would check the rates from Carousel Inn, Tropicanna, BWPPI and Park Vue Inn, these are the four closest good hotels.

thanks, i checked the rates for the closest ones listed above - currently range from slightly under $100 for Park Vue to over $150.

will check out the website, never heard of it.:thumbsup2

I recommend staying at the Candy Cane Inn. It is right down the street from the DL/DCA enterance (only about a 4 minute walk) and they have nice, clean rooms and nice employees. I'm not sure about the room rate though, sorry, but you can go to their website http://www.candycaneinn.net

I 2nd the Candy Cane Inn recommendation. you won't be disappionted.

If you are looking for something close to DL then this might not be the one for you, its about the same distance away as HoJos maybe a little further. The walk time will depend on how fast you walk but found by most here to be between 10 and 15 minutes depending on your speed and your luck with the crosswalk.

I vote for the Sheraton Park.
Very nice and large, comfy rooms with the heavenly beds.
Only downfall is the $14 per day/per day car fee and the ART fees. They say you can walk it, but believe me, after walking parks all day, you want a shuttle back to your hotel;) I do really like this hotel though, if you get a great rate, go for it:thumbsup2

I'm afraid to drive in California lol, plan on being @ the mercy of shuttles/cabs so the fee isn't an issue. It's just hard for a 1st timer to judge how far is far.:) We're used to walking a good distance to catch a bus or to parking lot from WDW, 15 min. is acceptable to us.

I'm just not sure what is considered a "great rate" for the Sheraton;) Hate to prepay then see a substantially lower rate appear.

Their site currently lists the rack rates for most of '08 @ $495+ a night, lots of dates in what i'd think are "popular periods" in '07 are close to $300/night...just not sure if they tend to later steeply discount rates as a matter of course.:confused3

Candy Cane Inn does seem very nice (they haven't posted their '08 pricing yet) it's just that we prefer a more modern highrise and it's comfort factor/amenties; especially when we'll be camped out there for over a week.
