Hi! I’m booking one night with points and these are the two hotels available to me. How long is the walk from the Springhill Maingate and how do you get there? I know there have been a lot of access changes from this area lately. The Residence Inn will cost me $50 as I don’t have enough points to cover the cost. Mostly wondering about how long the walk is from both of these hotels. Thanks!

It will take 10-15 minutes from the CVS on the corner to the entrance if you like to walk.

Both these hotels are right next to each other on Katella. You will walk to Harbor (the SHS is right at that corner, the RI is about a small block west), cross Katella going north, and walk directly to the parks entrance. You will go through the Harbor side bag check, then straight to the park gates. Depending on the mobility issues with your group and the traffic signals (1 major and 1 minor), it should take about 15-20 minutes at a relatively relaxed pace. The Harbor bag check can get backed up at peak hours, so allow some extra time for that. You will be well located at either hotel -- right above/near the 24/7 CVS for basic groceries and sundries, a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, and a Starbucks (across Harbor by the Walgreens).

Thank you for all the details! I think the Springhill Maingate we would actually access from Downtown Disney. I think they used to have a short cut through the cast member parking lot that is no longer available. Does anyone know how long the walk is from this area.

I don't quite understand the area you're talking about. DTD doesn't have access to the corner of Katella and Harbor that I know of. Are you referring to the Disney gate on Katella that accessed the old Timon parking lot? The Hilton used to advertise that gate as a sort of shortcut/Hilton guest access to the parks.

I’m not sure either, lol. There are 2 Springhill hotels and I’m talking about the Maingate one. It’s not on Katella. I think it’s over near Ball and Walnut? I think you can walk to the mickey and Friends tram and then ride it or walk through Downtown Disney. I’m not sure how to access from that side or how long of a walk it would be.

Yes, Springhill Maingate is on Ball near Walnut. It is a hike to get to the tram, especially with the construction.

Personally I would not walk that. I would take ART, see if the hotel has a shuttle, or Uber at least to DTD and enter there.

It is 1.6 Miles from the Residence Inn. BUT I would check out the shuttle/bus situation. Residence Inn May be the more convenient one since it is near the convention center.

We usually stay at the holiday inn and suites right there on walnut and enjoy it every time! The walk on the way there is no sweat and easy peasy, but coming home seems like it takes FOREVER and is quite the journey after a full day in the parks. We haven’t stayed there in over a year though so I’m not sure how it works with the construction. I prefer staying on that side of the park so that I don’t have to deal with the security and bag check mess on the other side.

It’s a bit of a trek and backtracking to get to the tram now.

We always stay at the RI convention center, and while I haven't stayed at that particular SHS, the RI would be worth the upgrade for us for the extra space, and better breakfast. SHS is continental, RI is full. Plus I believe the RI will end up being closer and definitely a more direct route.

Ok, thanks everyone! Sounds like it’s a bit of a hike from both of them. We’ll probably stay at RI as that sounds more walkable although 1.6 Miles is Far!

The RI convention center isn't 1.6 miles from the parks...are you talking about DTD? for us (with 3 small kids) it's about a 10-12 min walk from the hotel, we walked DTD and once we figured out where we were going it was maybe 20 minutes.

It is, I google mapped it. 1.6 from front door to front gate

There are 2, this is the one labeled convention center, maybe you were at the other one?

Nope, we were at convention center, we've stayed at both. I just also google mapped it - I mean it's only one block up from Katella to the Harbor entrance. Google said from Hotel Way on Katella at the RI to the IHOP on Harbor is .5 miles. So maybe .6 miles to the security check? If I knew how to insert a pic I'd show my screenshot. Was it taking you a different way, up past the GC?

here's the ss

We stayed at the RI Convention Center last summer, and it's definitely not 1.6 miles. It's about .6 miles. Even that felt like a long walk at the end of the day. But we loved the hotel.
