which hotel off site?

We are going to universal on July 26-Aug.2 and I can not bring myself to pay for onsite room
So to make this some what of a budget trip I have decided to stay off site. What hotel would you recommend?

It will be Dh, Me, DD(15) and DS(14)
and this is are first trip to universal so any tips would be great also....

We stayed at the doubletree on major blvd and it was only a 10 min walk to universal.
It was me DW ,DS15 and DS11 and was a nice hotel and kids loved the pool but don't know how much they charge now but we got 1 room for $60.00 a night through www.hotels.com and we stayed there in june.
