Which hotel? Advice needed please

Hey there! First time visitors to DLR and Cali in general. We (2 adult couples) are spending about a week in Carlsbad(3/4-10) then one night in West Hollywood (3/10) to visit family. Then 2 nights in Anaheim. We are indecisive about where to stay. We will only be going to DL for one day, Tuesday 3/12. Trader Sams and DTD on Monday 3/11. This is what we have narrowed down for choices of hotel, I would love any advice you may have or if it really doesn’t matter and we just need to pick one!

• Candy Cane Inn — $169 per night & free parking
• Desert Palms Inn — $156 per night & $19 parking
• Fairfield Inn Anaheim Resort — $159 per night & $19 parking

Any thoughts from those who know the area? Thanks in advance!

From your list: CCI is our favorite -- never had a bad stay! FFI -- are you a loyalty member with Marriott? Those points add up and come in really handy for future trips. Desert Palms is further away than the other two hotels. Not a far walk if there are no mobility issues, but the other two hotels are noticeably closer. (And CCI has a private shuttle if you don't feel like walking.) Otherwise, personally, I'd go with the CCI -- free, generous continental breakfast; clean rooms and clean grounds; great customer service. So that $169 rate covers a lot of ground. And CCI gives a discount for returning guests that can be used within a year and stacked on to any of their other discounts.

I am a regular at FFI...just stayed at CCI for the first time after raves by friends and was kinda disappointed. Not bad but a bit dated compared to FFI.

FFI is nice plus a bit closer. CCI has free breakfast and is a 10 min walk to gates.

I am not one for free breakfast, so FFI will be my choice.

The Fairfield is much nicer and closer. I just looked at booking there in October and your rate is much better in comparison. Everything was around 227 there for my dates.

If the free breakfast and free parking matter more to you, go with CCI. If you aren't a breakfast person (we are -- the CCI breakfast can hold us until lunch, so that saves a lot of money) and the free parking doesn't matter -- and if Marriott points do matter -- then go with FFI. Both CCI and FFI are nice hotels, neither are slimy or gross. It only matters which one meets your priorities better. Either way, I think the Desert Palms is too far compared to the two others.

I have stayed at FFI and CCI multiple times each. I have a friend who will only stay at CCI so when I go with her we stay at CCI. If I go without her, I prefer FFI because it is closer. The rooms are nicer (imho). The biggest downside to FFI is the rooms are a bit noisy. The concrete corridors outside all the rooms are just loud as people walk past your room to get to theirs. We’ve always gotten around this by using a sound machine app at night.

Fairfield Inn rooms are more modern and updated where the vibe at CCI is more quaint and cozy. CCI is easy as it is has more of a motor inn vibe where you can park close to your room. There are no elevators or long hallways to navigate. I always enjoy my CCI stays. Both hotels are excellent choices.
