Hi,
Im new to the boards. This is the first time we're going to disney without the kids in 22 years. We'll be arriving on 7/21 for 5 days. Any suggestions which resort would be the best for us? We're thinking about the poly.
Thanks

I'd choose the YC or BC for its easy access to Epcot and other night-time activities!

Then again, the Polynesian is very romantic...

Enjoy!!

YC or BWI would be my choice, YC first. :D I Love being in the Epcot part for the hotels, easy to get to Epcot and the night life is real nice at the BW :D

I say the Poly. It is a nice romantic get away. The resort is spread out and I don't think it would be as "loud" as the YC or BWI. I think you would like to be able to stroll along the beach and around the grounds with your honey!! Hope this helps!!:)

Welcome to the Dis!!!!

We have gone twice without kids, our honeymoon(before kids), and for 1 night this past summer. Both times we stayed at the Poly & loved it.

I vote for the Yacht Club! :) It is a beautiful resort and has lots of nightlife options. You'll be super close to Epcot, MGM, and the boardwalk area. :) Plus all the rooms have recently been remodeled and are fantastic!! :)

Second vote would be BC and BWI. Then my third choice would be the GF. It's a beautiful hotel also, but you're a little farther away from the action.

Good Luck! :)

The one time my DH & I went without the kids we stayed at the Beach Club. Epcot is last on my kids list as far as the parks go so we spent alot of time there on that trip with out them. It is such a short walk from BC/YC or BW to Epcot. If I was going to the MK more than the other parks then the Poly or WL would by my pick. Also, try to have dinner at the California Grill in the CR. That was an amazing dining experience. :D

Hello,
Thanks to all who replied. We pretty much have it narrowed down to the Poly or the BC Villas. I've always dreamed of staying at the Poly. I remember when it first opened. I begged my parents to let us stay there!!! They could never afford it. Once I had kids of my own we couldn't afford to stay there either. Because of this I'm really leaning toward the Poly. On the other hand, the BC is newer and the Villas look fabulous in photos. Guess I'll keep watching the boards and soak up all the info I can. Is it usually a problem to change a res? And is the BC usually available when the codes come out on Mousesavers? Too many questions? Sorry, I'm just really excited. My DH gave me the Poly reservations for x-mas. It was an awesome surprise!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Again

Without the kids I would go with either the YC or the AKL depending on the type of vacation experiance you are looking for. It is just my husband and I and these are our two faviorate resorts.

If you want to be in the middle of the action and walking distance to EC and MGM as well as nightime entertainment and many very good sit down places to eat then the YC is the way to go.

If you are looking to relax in a resort that offers you an experiance you cannot get in any other resort in the United States ( watching zerbra and wildebest walk by your balcony) then the AKL is for you. The transportation to the parks is by bus but the buses are very good and you do not share with other resorts like the YC does.

You cannot go wrong with either resort.

I would choose the Polynesian. The walks along the beach at night with the castle changing colors in the background...very romantic. Also, you can lounge in the hammocks. Very relaxing and romantic atmosphere!

I've yet to stay at the Poly, but if that's what your DH booked for you (you lucky duck!) and it's someplace you've "always dreamed of staying", I say follow both your intuitions and make it the Poly - there's something 'magic' about fulfilling a childhood dream!(and sharing it with such a thoughtful hubby!):smooth:

Hi,
Your so right!!! The polynesian it is. That was my first choice and his. I'm sure it will be wonderful. I wish we could renew our vows on the vacation. That would really make it a special occasion. I'm sure it's real expensive though. Thanks again to everyone for the help.
Talk soon

We have stayed in all the deluxes except the GF. It's just not my cup of tea.

Now to address your question. On one of our trips we took our nieces and our two boys. That trip we stayed at the Poly. I can remember sitting on the balcony one night with my Husband and both of us agreeing, when the day comes that we get to have a no kids trip, hands down we'll be at the Poly.

We visited the Poly on our trip a few weeks ago and I can still say. It will be the Poly!

When I first read your thread I thought Beach Club definitely without kids, but since you mentioned you have always wanted to stay at the Poly, I say go for it! I always wanted to stay at the Contemporary and finally for my 40th birthday that is where we went. Remember when the parks first opened, only the "rich" folks stayed onsite - lol! I used to think some day I'll be there! I almost let negative comments on the board dissuade me about lack of Disney atmosphere, loud decor, ect. It was the most magical trip so far, I was just like a little kid again. I laughed every single time we got on the elevator and heard Goofy or Chip 'n Dale. My kids were ready to smack me if I said "Here comes the monorail"! one more time. To top it off we got an upgrade from the wings to the tower. So if the Poly has always been your dream then run, run to the Poly as fast as you can!!

Hello Again,
I remember thinking the same thing. Only the rich folks. We took our kids to disney every year as they were growing up. It wasn't until the year 2000 that we actually got to stay on property. After that we we hooked. There's nothing quite like the magical feeling of being at disney and staying in the middle of all the magic. DH and I have decided it will be the polynesian for sure. I'm so excited about it I can hardly stand it. July is way too far away. Thanks again for all the input.
