Which has a better view of MK? Contemporary or Poly?

Obviously this depends on where you are at the Poly or Contemporary. The Contemporary is certainly closer to the MK, but this only helps if you have a room with a MK view. Similarly, although the Poly is further away, you still need a room with an MK view.

See and judge for yourself...it really depends on what type of view you want.

Clearly you will be closer to MK at the CR and the CR Convention Center parking lot will be a part of the high level view. You will have a bird eye view from the side of the park if you select a Tower-MK View room. PR will be a distant view of the castle with Sea Seas Lagoon in the foreground.

CR Tower is like an elevated telephoto perspective.
PR will be more like a distant ground level landscape perspective.

I've stayed at both
Totally different views:
-Poly does not really have what I would call a true "magic kingdom view". It has a nice view of the castle and space mountain. The amount of seperation between the resort and the MK is what I like most about it. Nice view while being far enough away to not intrude on the tropical atmosphere of the Poly
-Contemporary has a much better view of the entire MK (provided you are on the MK side of course). Great view of Tomorrowland which compliments the "modern" atmosphere of the Contemporary. A large part of your view however is also of the Contemporary parking lot which I personally am not crazy about. I think I would actually prefer the Bay Lake side to the MK side(if my 2 young sons weren't with us) because of this fact.

This is not even a contest the Contemporary has the better Magic Kingdom view because you can see all of it, because the view at the Polynesian is limited view and I think the only thing you can see is Cinderella’s Castle.

As for seeing the parking lot I think when people are looking out from their Contemporary Magic Kingdom Tower rooms, they are to busy looking at the Magic Kingdom, Grand Floridian, Polynesian. I know that is what my family and are looking at, so who cares if the parking lot is there.

The view of the MK from the beach in front of the Poly, with the hammocks and swing chairs is BY FAR the best view!!! :)

The Poly view appeals to me because you don't feel like you are still "in the park", the view of the castle is great! google Tikiman Polynesian and you will see pictures from the Poly views! Good luck with your decision!

No question - it is beautiful from there - from the fireworks to the castle view. during the day the other side is also nice looking out over the 7 Seas lagoon. popcorn:: :yay:

Well, here's a view from our room on the 12th floor of the Contemporary:

I think that one would be hard to top!

(Just for your info, we do not have a telephoto lens. This is with a max 6X zoom.)

We are staying at the Poly in September. But I did not book a Magic Kingdom view.

Here is one from CR, 14th floor MK view, Room 4911. This is not zoomed.

Here is a view from PR concierge, Hawaii Building, Room 3510. This is looking right as there was a palm tree straight in front of us and we could not see the castle. Again, this is not zoomed.

On the other side of the World, we have the view from the Boardwalk. Not zoomed, you are looking at the Yacht and Beach Club taken from BWI balcony. Sorry, can't remember room number.

Well it depends on what you want. Do you want to see:

1. the whole Magic Kingdom with a nicely landscaped parking lot in the foreground that is easy to ignore?

Or do you want to see:

2. the tops of the castle and Space Mountain and consider that your MK view and have the beautiful beach and 7 seas lagoon in the foreground.

If it is option 1, then the Contemporary is for you. If it is 2, then you should stay at the Poly

I think they cut that tree down, but I'm not sure.

Oh good! It was in 2004 and not that I'm for cutting down the beach palm trees but this particularly large one was right smack dab in front of the balcony. If you stood all the way forward on the right hand side, you could lean over the railing and see the castle. It was still a lovely room with that beach below but we were slightly disappointed about the castle. I gotta say my favorite view is from the Contemporary tho'. At night, it is magical! :wizard:

I checked today and yes, the tree in front of 3510 is now gone.

Done both.....Contemporary has BY FAR the best view......MUCH closer to the Castle than the Poly.....we switched over to the CR from the POLY because of that very reason. ;)

The views are both really nice, but very different. The Poly view is a "far off", picturesque view. From the CR, it is much closer and you feel like you are a part of the action. You can see the castle details and a handful of the attractions. The view of the fireworks from a CR balcony facing the MK is magical!
