I am buying myself an early Valentine's Day gift!

My Coach has finally died. The fabric is worn and the zipper is getting stuck.

I was looking at either this Coach on eBay:

for $179.99 with free shipping

or this Aigner one on Overstock:

for $69.99 with $2.95 shipping.

Any opinions?

I like the Coach one better (I have a very similar one, except mine is black and gray).

The Aigner.

While I like Coach, I'm not a fan of the C pattern. IMO the Aigner you posted is a more classic look and the Coach pattern will look dated sooner.

I prefer the Aigner one

But I really hate the signature styles on purses.

ETA: I like the handle much better on the Aigner too

Agreed. :goodvibes

Wow, it's a tie! 3 - 3 so far . . .

OK, I'll explain a bit more:

I chose the Coach "C" bags because a few years ago, I got a set including a wallet, checkbook, and bag all in the tan "C" pattern. The wallet and checkbook are still in pretty good shape, but the bag is worn out.

I don't have any problems with using the Coach accessories with an Aigner bag. And I'm thinking the leather will hold up better than the cloth Coach.

So, do I get something that will still be a "set", or do a save some $$ and get something different that may last longer?

I would pick the second bag. I like a sleek look and do not care for all the C's on the bag.

However I would prefer a bag that was more compartmentalized.

I got a purse from JCPenney's that is from their "American Living" line and I am in love with it. Not too big or small, but can even hold a magazine almost perfectly in one of the sections, it has 3!

I guess it is a "satchel purse" with 3 sections, 4 zipper pouches, middle area is zippered up for safety with your wallet. I have not been this excited about a purse in ages.:)

How do you use your bag? To me, design and looks is one thing, but the functionality makes or breaks a bag for me.

I would HATE to have to zip and unzip the pockets on the second bag each time I needed to put a cell phone in it.

I like the first bag because of the drop. I need to be able to put a bag on my shoulder when I need both hands. Also, having had several C bags (small, large and the newer Op Art) I can tell you that it hides marks better than a plain one-color bag.

Another thing I like about the first bag is that it has a zip top and a well. The second bag doesn't have a well. I mean that you can have the bag's zipper closed yet you can still lay a bottle of water or your cell phone or a Taco Bell bag on top of the bag with the zip closed and still carry it without it falling off. You can't do that with the second bag.

But the first bag would clash with any patterned clothing you might wear regularly. The second bag would match more outfits and can go with anything from plaid to polka-dot.

I like the Aigner bag better. It's cleaner and more classic. I don't like the Coach bag.

For me it's no contest - the Aignier. I don't like the C pattern, and I'm a sucker for nice leather.

I agree. I also like B Makowsky bags. They sell them on QVC and at TJ Maxx and Nordstrom. They're very classic looking and are the softest leather ever.

Definitely the second purse. I really like it. The first one is ugly. But I haven't liked a Coach purse since they switched to those ugly "C" fabric ones from those great leather purses they used to make. I just don't get the appeal.

Interesting observation about the "well"! I never thought about that! I can see where that would be handy.

i like the aigner one better. not only is it much less expensive, i love the leather. i think the first one is ugly (Just MHO, i know lots of people love them). as a PP said, i don't like the "C" pattern.

And see I dislike the Aigner one, because of the handle. I have tried to be a single handle girl and I just can't do it. Only time I like anything with a single is when it is a much longer strap.

Only because of the handle do I prefer the Coach one, but agree that I dislike the signature style of the Coach.

I like them both for different reasons. The Coach - First, I love Coach! And if you already have the accessories, I like having a complete set. It looks like it's larger, and the tote style looks more casual to me. The leather - I love leather! The solid color will go with anything, including the accessories you already have, and any new accessories you get later.

Funny, I just bought a new Coach bag on Ebay and got it in the mail today!

I prefer the Coach more out of functionality. I have a similar bag which I really like. But I carry things like extra clothing for a 3 year old.

I think the 2nd one looks 'old' to me. I guess that makes it 'classic.'
