Hi

I took my Wet N Shine Remmington hair striaghtners with me to NYC. THey hardly heated up and it took me ages to straighten my hair. Does anyone know of any good hair straightners that I can take to the US?

:thumbsup2

The new GHD are multi voltage and will work fine.

Claire ;)

Just had a look at them. My god they are £115.00 I have never spent that much. My ones were £70 at the time and I was reluctant to pay that. I love my current ones the fact that I can straighten my hair wet saves me so much time.

I saw Babyliss has ones for £24.99. I dont really like them from last time I bought them. Anyone knows of any inbetween straighters.

I've got some US straighteners off eBay specifically for hols. They were way cheaper than paying up for some multi-voltage GHDs - might be worth a look or a trip to Walmart when you're in the US...? :thumbsup2

Ooh good to know about GHDs that's what I'll be taking!

Not sure if they are any good but I noticed the new AVON catalogue has remington travel straighteners that fold into a pouch and come with 3 different adaptors for different countries and they are only £15!! They might work better since they are specifically for travel! I guess they might not though!

hiya - my straightners are Francene Futra's (i think that's how they are spelt) i got them from a beauty warehouse but i think they also retail about 80 quid in salons. they were just good as at home, i have tried travel ones etc and they are rubbish.

I always take my GHD's and they never heated up well enough, So Ive just bought a cordless pair(recharable batteries charged from the mains), with postage cost me £34, from maxtv(one of the shopping channels on sky).

that way i havent got to worry too much about the heating side of the straighteners, tried them this morning, and they are fine.

ive bought the new ghd's for my trip as my old ghds didnt heat up much at all and were no use at all and the new mk4 style are multi voltage so will work just as good as they do here. :thumbsup2

Yes, i have to agree with you there, the MK4 style GHD's are the ONLY GHD straighteners that will heat up to the proper temp in the USA.

You can buy other UK straighteners but please make sure that they are multi voltage and not just normal dual voltage or they still won't work in the USA ;)

You can buy straighteners in the US, relatively cheaply, i suppose it depends how many trips accross the pond you intend to make if it's going to be worth your while.:goodvibes

Good Luck!

apparently you can buy a voltage changer from maplins I'm going to check it out as my DD (24) can't go to US without her GHDs lol

Thanks Kaslee don`t know how we missed those, been looking at Argos and Bootles sites all morning.

Hi,

My daughter is moving to the UK this Fall to attend school. We are looking into all kinds of personal items, including a hair straightener. Here in the US, we use the Chi brand and love it.....pricey but works like a charm! I am wondering if someone could recommend a brand in the UK since I have no idea whats good and whats not. I dont want to spend a ton but I do want one that works well and will last a long time as she will be there for 3 years. Also, where to buy it from.

Anyone from Leeds? Thats where she will be going to school and we are planning a trip to drop her off in Sept.

Thanks in advance!!!

If you don't mind paying for them GHD all the way! Would be lost without mine.

Another GHD fan - I have had other Remington ones which were absolutely fine but the GHDs are way better!! Though they are quite harsh on your hair so I try not to straighten too much! (She says sitting here with a dodgy wavy ponytail!)
