Which guide to buy?

I swear by my Passporter! I love it! I use it on every trip! I also like the unofficial guide and they also have really good worksheets to help plan out your day for free! Of course the best advice is the disboards!!!!!!!!

Happy Planning,
Sharron

Unofficial Guide is my favorite. For a first timer I would recommend Passporter. It has great info and not overwhelming. I also have Birnbaum and Frommers. I like the other two much better.

Unofficial Guide - I have been 10 times and still use their touring plans. They have never steered me wrong and it is a great read!

I'm an Unofficial Guide girl, myself. Would like to try the Passporter, though.

We have all 3 (UG, PP, and Birnbaum), and the Unofficial Guide is hands down the best and most useful. Passporter isn't bad for additional information, but UG has much more detail and explanation to it.

Birnbaum is a waste of money unless you are looking for a guide with nothing but pro-Disney comments and pretty pictures. It isn't objective at all, but it's more colorful. The kids liked looking at Birnbaum before DD could read because of the pictures of the characters.

The Unofficial Guide does have a lot of info! We do like the Passporter for journalling (sp?) though.:)

Buy the UG - go online get the customized touring plans for free and borrow the others from the library. Or if your library has the 2009 UG borrow that and buy the passporter.

I also recommend reading the Birnbaum for Kids because for all that it is VERY biased in a pro disney way the descriptions of the rides are laid out well and there is a photo of almost every ride. My oldest DS also read it an now he has an idea of what he wants to ride.

Tour Guide Mike.
I've been many times and I used TGM the last trip and found some very useful info there.

Thanks. I'm mostly interested in which parks to go to each day and which to avoid. I'll take a look at all of them! Thanks!

I'm reading my 2009 Unofficial Guide right now - it arrived yesterday. Woo hoo! :cool1: It may be overkill for what you are looking for, though - it's over 800 pages. But that said, I buy a new one before every trip and I read (and flag!) almost every page.
When my kids were very young, we loved Birnbaum's Disney for Kids. It gave great info on which rides were most appropriate and/ or scary. I noticed at our local AAA office they had Birnbaum's for sale for 12 bucks. That's a real bargain.

For the pas two visits we used Birnbaum (2006 & 2009)) and Birnbaum kids (2009). I agree it was really helpful with which rides might be to scary. It also has helpful numbers. I have never tried the unofficial guide but after reading all these I think I might!
