Which guide book do you use? I'm getting ready to seriously plan our next WDW visit for Aug.! We usually use Birnbaum's book...but I am wondering if there are better guides out there!?

I did vote for the UnOfficial Guide, but it was a toss-up between it and PassPorter!!! I love them both. But for different reasons. I use my PassPorter to record all pertinent info for my trip. Then I also record my 'memories' in the back pages. I love the maps in it. But, I think that especially for the novice trip planner, the UnOfficial Guide is best. In fact....I am slipping my 2003 UG into my dd's bag so her friends mother can use it to start planning her trip. She went on WDW official site and found it to be not so useful!!!!

I had access to the 2004 editions of Birnbaums, Passporter, and Unofficial. I chose to purchase only the Unofficial. I did like the maps in Passporter.

Another vote for the Unofficial Guide....while I like to look thru Birnbaum's for the pictures, I have found the Unofficial guide to be the most help for me in terms of touring plans, recommendations for resort/dining, etc.

WOW! It seems to me...that I need to get the Unofficial Guide!

I got Birnbaums first for my trip, and then after hearing raves about the Passporter I bought that. The passporter was great for recording my day's activities, and giving me places to store park maps, etc....this was my favorite feature. I think it is good to check all of the options out (try a library) before actually buying one....with all the votes the unofficial guide is getting, I'll have to check that one out!

I also voted for the Unofficial Guide but I love the Passporter too! The Unofficial has more information for those who love to plan and know everything there is to know about everything Disney related. The Passporter is GREAT for remembering all of the Disney moments. Kinda like a scrapbook in my opinion. It just depends what would work best for you and your family.

Unofficial guide is the way to go, I also love the Passporter. I think they complement each other very nicely.

I have always used the Birnbaum and been happy ~ but ~ I've heard soooooo much good stuff about the Unofficial Guide that I'm picking up one tomorrow! Thanks.

I get a fresh Unofficial Guide every time I go to WDW. Birnbaums is nice for the pictures, and for someone who is less obsessed about planning!

I love the Passporter because it has all the current info for the year of your trip, plus all our own momentos and personal notations.

BUT...I have gone to Disney the past two trips with pages and pages of info printed off the DisBoards. You can't beat getting current info from someone who was at WDW the week before your trip.

It was also a toss up for me between the unofficial guide and Passporter. I love them both and as a previous poster said they complement each other nicely- I have several other guides also- I guess I am just addicted to reading everything I can about WDW!

I like my Unoficial Guide to Disney/Universal!

Wow. Thanks to everyone who voted for the Unofficial Guide. And to everyone else, wait until you see what we have in store for the next edition. New money-saving advice! Humor! And free stuff! I'm very excited about it.

AspiringCindy and MinnieM21, let me know if you have any questions about the Guide.

Sincerely,

Len

The UnOffical Guide is THE BEST!! Especially if you are going for the first time or during a busy time of year. Our first two trips were during spring break week and we couldn't have survived without our trusty touring plans. We were literally always two steps ahead of the throngs! :hyper:

I went out yesterday and bought a copy of The Unofficial Guide. Boy am I impressed! Such detail!

I have bought a new one of these each time I go to WDW, and usually give older copies to friends who I hear are going. I just love to read and plan and reread and replan and then do it all over again. It's at least a six-month task for me each time we go (which has been yearly for a while now) and I usually have highlights, post-it flags and other markings in my book to let me know where I need to go back and review some more.

Call me anal - it's a passion for me!!

:earseek:

I have purchased a Birnbaum's and Passporter each trip. After reading the rave reviews about the Unofficial Guide, I ordered one from Amazon and am eagerly awaiting it's arrival!!

And by the way, Len cool job!!! How did you become a researcher, if you don't mind my asking? :D :D
Alas, I am just a Biology Teacher!
