I am pretty sure I am going to make ressies for our "surprise trip" in April at the poly. I'll be giving my parents passes for a Christmas present (secretly)...but I am hoping to keep the trip a surprise from my younger kids until we leave. We'll see how long I last...

We have stayed lagoon view before...the building closest to the ticket & transportation...can't remember the name. But to save money we could go garden view.

CAn you get a "lagoon view" room at a graden view price?? And what building would be close to the TTC?

Thanks for your help!!

::yes::

Last time at Poly we stayed in a GV...it was in the Samoa Building - ground floor looking directly at the Volcano pool. I think the room number was 1610.

It sounds exactly like what you are looking for. GF and lagoon view to the right and the GCH is a very short walk to the left.

Good Luck! :wave2:

Poohlover-- I would strongly suggest Tokelau! I stayed in (I believe) room # 1915 and it was wonderful! It was basically a lagoon view room for a garden view room cost!! While I usually prefer the higher floors to the lower, I really enjoyed having a patio on the ground floor and being able to walk right out onto the walkways and beach. From the patio, we could see the TTC boats, Tahiti, Contemporary, and lagoon. A few steps out, Space Mountain and the MK castle were visible. Several more steps out and we could see the Grand Floridian! The room was clean and very spacious-- I believe the rooms in Tokelau are slightly larger than the rest. The room was close to the entry of the longhouse and was really convenient when we left and entered. We had requested this room beforehand and were so happy that our dream came true! I know if you were in this room you would love it too! Even if you are not placed in Tokelau, most of the GV rooms have wonderful pool/landscape views-- I would just make sure that you aren't in one of the few rooms facing the parking lot. That is, unless you would want to see the monorail passing by from your window. Have fun deciding and have a great trip! I know you will love the Polynesian.

P.S. If you haven't checked out Tikiman's site already, be sure to! I am not very computer savvy, so I can only give you the link:

I would request Tahiti. I base that on my one and only Poly experience. We had reserved GV, and requested Tahiti ( based on proximity to TTC). Well they gave me Tahiti, just as I had requested. HOWEVER, they upgraded us to LV. Me, DH and the 3 Princesses woke up every morning looking at the castle and Space Mountain. If you request Tokelau, they may give it to you...slim chance of LV upgrade. Of course, depending on the time of year and how booked they are that may or may not even be possible. I just feel with a Tahiti request you keep that option slightly more open. On top of that, Tahiti is great because of how close the TTC is, how wonderful that end of the beach is, and even with a bit of a walk the GCH and volcano pool aren't that far...just pleasant 5 minute walk. Tahiti all the way!

Aloha!

Thanks to everyone who replied. Aparently we have stayed in Tahati before. I loved it & thought with my parents it would give us all the best transportation possibilities.

We are going the week after Easter this April...so I will have to assume NO upgrades as it is a busy time.

Am I correct about that? We have always requested what we wanted...never counted on an upgrade. But trying to save money, that upgrade would be great!

Are upgrades possible at that time of year??

yes - you generally get an upgrade because the resort sold too many standard (garden) view rooms and they need to upgrade someone to the lagoon view so they have more standard views- to get this you need to either get there very early before 11:00am if possible or very late (they decided you weren't coming) after 8:00pm

the resort is more likely to have a need for more standard rooms in the on-season than the off.

so this works better if the resort is sold-out.
