Which game system is best?

My kids (ages 7 and 11) prefer the sports games that are available for Xbox - like NBA or FIFA, etc. They love playing Infinity and Minecraft, as well as many other age appropriate games. The graphics is a ton better on Xbox then the Wii was. So, please, don't think the only games available for XBox are war games.

We have the PS3 and feel the same. We've had a Wii for quite some time but never use it. We're a Playstation family, and will eventually get the PS4.
DS10 does not play ANY war games. He uses it for Skylanders, Sims, the Lego series games, NBA and FIFA games, Disney Infinity etc. My husband will play the mature titles.. because he's an adult.
We find there is plenty for PlayStation that kids can play. I'd say at 9 to go with the PS4 or XBox. There is still plenty for him to play for years, but he will likely outgrow the WiiU regardless if he ever touched a game like COD.

We have xbox and wii U. My kids are 4,6,9, and 11. All my kids love both but they are definitely on the wiiU more. They like the game pad.

Even though PS4 and Xbox is geared towards boys I still think Wii U might be a good fit.

We don't have children. DH plays PS4, I've never played it much less even watched him play other then going to tell him something and see it in the background. We still have the original Wii. We don't play it often but it is still used.

On a dreary day DH & I will bowl or play golf on the Wii. Or sometimes not even the active games like that, we'll play Mario Kart. Even I will sometimes have girlfriends over and we'll have a bowling tournament. I also do the Wii Fit by myself.

I think they are two totally different types of systems and you have to judge how your son is. Do you as a family play games, such as the family all bowling together on the wii? Or does he have other siblings he plays that with? If so, maybe Wii U is a good option. Or is your son more the type that has the video game system in his bedroom and he goes in and closes the door and just wants it to be him and the video game system? If so then maybe think about the xbox or playstation.

Even if you do get him a Wii U, in a few years that system will probably be used still and you could get him a playstation or xbox.

Can you find out which system your son's friends use? Because they talk and play together over wifi, he'll probably want the one with which he can communicate with his friends.

We have both the WiiU and Xbox360. My 8 yr old plays on both - any of the Mario titles and Skylanders on WiiU, Disney Infinity & Minecraft on Xbox. (He also plays other stuff, but those are the faves.)

My 2 older boys mostly stick to Xbox, but they absolutely still play the Mario titles on the WiiU and are waiting for the new Smash Brothers to release later this year even though they both got it for the 3DS on Friday.
