WHen is the better time to depart disney? i can choose a flight at either 1:10 or 6:30. It is a 2 hr 10 min trip to home airport and another 2 hrs drive to home. My heart says stay in disney as long as you can, but that would put my ds6 and i home at 11pm earliest. The other part of me says leave on the 1:10 flight but that means leave the resort probably by 11am and what could we do before we leave. would probably not even be enough time to have a sit down breakfast.

please help me make this decission :confused3

I’d vote for the 6:30 flight. Do you have to be anywhere (like at work) the next morning? If not, take the later flight for sure – otherwise, well, I’d still vote for the 6:30 flight.

Another vote for 6:30. :thumbsup2 That way you can still spend the whole morning, and a little of the afternoon if you want, in one of the parks. My choice would be MK, but that's just me. With the 1:30 departure, as you noted in your post, you really can't fit in much before having to head to the airport.

Are you using Disney;s Magic Express? If you are, remember that if you're using the hotel to check your luggage and get to the airport, you have to check your luggage AT LEAST 3 hours before your flight departs. Any later than that, and you can't use that service. If you take the 1:30 flight, that means you have to head for the airport at 10:30 at the LATEST, leaving you little time to do more than eat breakfast before you leave.

If you don't have to be anywhere the next morning, take the 6:30 and stay as long as you can!!!

When is your trip? If its in the warmer months, I would go for the earlier flight to avoid any afternoon thunderstorms. These days, there are so many delays anymore-if you went with the later flight you might not make it home until really late!

If you had to leave the hotel at 11, you could still do a sit down breakfast. Have your bags ready to go the night before and get up early. We do Chef Mickey's on checkout day and that takes about an hour. Then we take a last ride around on the monorail before heading to DTD for some shopping (we drive so theres not much time pressure for us).

I'd stay in WDW as long as possible. Which I am on my trip in 25 days!
Which means we get home in the evening but who cares! We were in WDW!

I'd vote for the earlier flight b/c the later in the day you travel, the more likely there will be a delay, and having to wait around an airport with a 6 yr. old who is coming down off of a Disney vacation b/c your flight was delayed will probably not be much fun.

I'll vote the late flight. You won't have to leave your resort until about 3:30 or 4:00, so you could get at least a half-day in the parks. You and DS can nap on the plane, and then you just have a few hours to drive home.

My family has this same problem. If we take the earlier flight, it is cheaper and we get home sooner. If we take a later flight, it costs more and we won't get home until about 10:30 pm. But to us this is a vacation we don't get to do often and we can always sleep later. Of course, we're choosing the later flight. We will also have a 5 and a 6 year old with us.

This is your first trip to Disney, and your sons. Stay as long as you can and enjoy the magic, it ends soon enough. This is our third trip in as many years and we always plan to stay as long as we can, reality will hit us at too soon as it is.

I vote for the 6:30 flight. If you take the earlier you'll probably only be able to have breakfast and that's it. If you take the later flight you would get a good part of the day to hit a park. Even if you're tired the next day it will be worth it because you were in Disney.

I vote for th 6:30 flight. My parents are taking the entire family to Disney for Thanksgiving and we are returning home on Saturday and midday at that. I would really like to stay longer but since they're paying for it I must go along with their arrangements. I love staying as long as possible even if that means a late arrival home. Have a great trip.

Later flight here. Greater liklihood that you can all catch a nap on the plane and then be refreshed for the drive home. Enjoy!

I would choose the earlier flight. My theory is "when it's over, it's over - time to go home."

It's a mindset for me. On the last day, I just want to get home. I would especially feel that way if I had a two hour drive from the airport and a six year old with me.

Just my two cents, of course.

I vote to stay as long as possible but that's just because I always plan my flights leaving as early and late as possible. We had a 6:15pm flight scheduled to leave and we spent the morning in Downtown Disney because it was raining(thankfully it was our last day!). I think the Magic Express picked us up at 3:30 or something like that. Unfortunately we were late leaving but still made it home around 11:30 that with a delay and 2 hour flight, and 1 hour drive home.
