Hi;
We are planning on going on the 7 day western cruise next November with DD's 9+9, DS17, and 2 18 month old girls. My question: Which excursions have people taken toddlers on? Example. The stingray city tour. I can imagine them on the bus OK, but what about the boat out to the stingrays? I would think this would be a liability problem for the boat owners, I don't know. I have a year to plan which excursions to go on, I would appreciate ANY and ALL stories, personal excperiences etc... for all excursions people have gone on on all the islands. We would rather not split up the family on excursions because this is the last trip with DS and we would like to enjoy it together.
And I do not want to start a debate, but any one out there leave toddlers on the boat while they went on excursions??
Any and all info is greatly appreciated. Mary:wave2:

kykaki,

We are sailing on the 11/29 eastern Magic. We planned our own excursions. You can do the same with the western, you just have to do your research and check out www.dcltribute.com website. Dave has some great info.

Here's what we are doing:

St. Martin - Taking the ferry to Great Bay Beach. DH is going to snorkel and we are going to rent jet ski's. DS (7) will take a short ride with DH.

St. Thomas - We are taking a cab to Coral World and going to Cokie Beach. There's great snorkeling and I belive jet ski's and parasailing (sp??).

Your DS 17 would probably like to snorkel, ride jet ski's and parasail and the family could stay together. Please check Dave's website.

I'm doing the Disney Happy Dance

If you are questioning any excursions that you would book with DCL directly, I think that most have a minimum age requirement. If you are booking an excursion on your own you will probably have to do research on your own as the age minimums.

We went on the western last year with our DS 2 and DS 5. In Key West we walked around and took the DCL Trolley excursion. In Grand Cayman we took the DCL excursion to 7 mile beach. We were given Rum Punch and sodas for the children...we had a sippy cup from the ship with milk. We use the insulated cups and brought ziplocs with ice. The beach has a bar and grill and we ate lunch. It is a bit pricey but the food was fairly good.
In Cozumel, we went on the DCL excursion to Chanakaab Park the one with the sealion show. This was perfect for my age children. We went with the DCL sponsored excursions mainly because of the ages of our children and I wanted to make sure all went smoothly.

Many have posted taking a young one (under 3) to Stingray City using Capt Marvin's boats. They allow it and don't charge for under 3. I believe DCL Stingray City hs a min age of 5 (?). We are doing this ourselves this January. Our son will be 2 yrs, 11 mos at the time.

We're also cruise next November on the Western, November 6th to be exact, I wonder if we're on the same cruise!!! Anyway, most of the DCL excursions have an age cut off, which won't allow children under a certain age even go on the excursion. Most of the snorkle cruises have an age cut off of 5, which means children even under 5 can't go. Usually if the age limit for children is 3 and up, an under 3 YO can go, but doesn't get charged, we had that happen to us on our Wonder Cruise. If you want to go to Stingray City, you'll have to book it yourself. We're in the same situation, my son will only be 3, so we're looking to booking a snorkle trip to Stingray City ourselves.

We were on the Thanksgiving Magic.
