Which DVC resort to stay at?

I am looking to surprise my husband with a Thanksgiving trip to WDW if we can be good with our money over the next few months. He is about to get a promotion/new job and deserves another trip to our favorite place, plus we have APs this year so might as well get all the use out of them that we can. I am looking to rent DVC points because it is such a great deal. Assuming rooms are available, would you suggest Key West or Saratoga Springs? Both are very reasonable during Thanksgiving week, around $1500 for the week. I could hardly stay in a value for that price through Disney. Now, they may already all be gone but I can't find out until I am ready to commit (which is a huge issue with these sites but I understand how it works and they can't do much about it).

So, Old Key West or Saratoga Springs? Or is there another place with DVC rentals you recommend that isn't absurdly high? We are already doing Boardwalk at Christmas and planning Polynesian next March so we don't want to repeat any of those. Oh, and we are also doing Animal Kingdom Lodge this summer for a work conference my husband is going to.

My personal favorite here is OKW. Definitely a great resort. Plus, they are in the midst of a total refurb of the rooms. They won't be completely finished by Thanksgiving, but a very large percentage of rooms should be done, giving you a high probability of getting a "new" room.

I assume you're thinking of a studio? The resorts are both roughly the same, points-wise, but OKW will be a few points less than SSR.

I checked on availability earlier today for a possible trip for us and both of these resorts were showing full availability for that timeframe.

OKW. I like Saratoga but location (unless you are interested in Disney Springs)

I own at Beach Club, it's my fave.

Thanks. I was leaning towards OKW. The upside to Saratoga is that it is a quick boat ride away from Disney Springs but I don't need to ever go back there unless we want to eat there one night. I am not a big shopper and if I am going to be walking around you can bet it will be at a park, not a shopping outlet (I know, it is much more than that).

The construction can be a bonus or a negative. I don't mind getting an "old room" but I don't want to be hearing a lot of construction work or have a lot of things closed off because of construction. That really takes away from the magical all-encompassing experience at a Disney resort.

There's a boat from OKW to Disney Springs as well.

They appear to be taking only a couple of buildings at a time out of circulation and working solely on those. That minimizes the construction impact. We were there in October and our room was across the street from the first wave of construction. We heard very little.

Enjoy!

I'd go with OKW right now. Saratoga is due to start refurb. OKW, you have a good chance of getting a refurbed unit.

The Epcot and MK resorts are already basically gone, so it's good you aren't looking that way.
