Which DVC resort is toughest to reserve?

I'll make a try at it. I'd say BoardWalk and Beach Club would be the hardest to get into, unless you are booking at 11 months out, but if not, it's still do-able.

But, depending on the time of year, it could be hard to get into other places. From what I understand, if you do not have the 11 month window at Hilton Head, it's really hard getting a summer reservation there. I'm sure there are some that get in though.

The first 2 weeks of December are very popular, because of the Xmas decorations and the low points per night. I think all WDW are harder to get into that time of year. Especially those Grand Villas at OKW. But, it's been a while since I've booked this time of year, kid is in school, so things may have changed.

Another popular time of year, is the Food and Wine Festival in EPCOT, which makes it even more difficult to get a room at the BW or BC if you are not an owner there.

I believe the Beach House at Vero and the Grand Villas at Hilton Head are hard to come by, especially during popular times of the year, like 4th of July.

Y'know, I actually asked a CM this in July, and he said VWL. I was genuinely surprised... can't verify it anywhere else, tho.

Just based on my experience, VWL is the hardest. It might be because it's the smallest, and one of the best themed resorts anywhere in WDW. I have never had a problem getting in BWV at the 7 month, even had standard view each time. I own at OKW and BCV, but before I added BCV I had no problem staying there on OKW points. But it was NOT sold out then. We all have favorites, but I think it's great having such a great variety to choose from.

By resort it'd likely be VWL due to it's smaller size. I look at it differently though. Here's my feelings.
  1. BWV GV
  2. HH any unit mid June to 3rd week August.
  3. BWV standard view
  4. VB Beach Houses Xmas to Easter.
    [/list=1]

Well, interestingly, we tried to book a beach vacation this next Spring Break, as owners we were prior to the 7 month window, and the only DVC resort that was completely booked and NOT available during Spring Break was Vero Beach. All other DVC resorts had plenty of rooms.

Interesting given all the unfair off topic bashing directed a the Vero resort.

All resorts, if you're attempting to book within 3 months of check-in or earlier.

There are so many variables that come into play. Room size, view, season, booking window.

There should be a published chart for each resort that illustrates how fast the rooms sell-out, by season and by room cat .

would you put okw, GRand villa as #5 on your list
Probably not. I'd likely put the BCV 2 queen rooms ahead of that. The OKW GV would certainly be close behind.

CaptainMidnight, my definition of a difficult to get unit is something you need to call day by day at the 11 month window. If it's still there at 10 months consistently, I'd drop it off my list. Of course if we want to look at small segments in time, you get much more very difficult items. Xmas onsite excluding OKW and VB for Easter.

Dean...how about BWV Boardwalk View? I imagine that will also be a tough one for those who don't own at BWV.

MS CMs told me VWL as well. Thought that was funny because twice now I've called for a one-bedroom at OKW at around 6 months out and couldn't get it, but both times VWL was available instead. Once was late August 2002 for a full week and paid cash for two nights. The other time was just for one night, March of 2003. For the March trip, a VWL one-bedroom was the only available DVC studio or one-bedroom at WDW for our night.

So I think while some specific rooms may sell out fast -- GVs, Boardwalk and standad views at BWV, etc. it's kind of "luck of the draw" when you're making ressies. You never know what will be available

I was pleasantly suprised. BWV is my home resort, and day by day at 11 months before last Christmas, I booked so we could have a 2 bedroom over Christmas. At 7 months out I called, and though what the heck, I would try for Beach Club Villas, and got a 2 bedroom there for our Christmas Stay. We are going for Halloween this year, and I did the same thing. Booked BWV at 11 months out. At 7 month mark, called hoping for a shot at VWL, and I was able to get it. Guess I was just very lucky.

I'd put it up there but it remains to be seen. We'll know if a few months. BCV may be harder as well as it is now basically sold out.

Yikes, now I'm worried! We're waiting for the 7 month window to open at OKW to reserve a 1 BR for next May. DH doesn't want to stay at any other resort. My guide had led me to believe that OKW was by far the easiest-always rooms available at 3-4 months out.

Maybe that's because I gave up a 2 BR at VWL for Halloween so I could switch to BCV at the 7 month mark!:D Enjoy my home!

I've had success booking VWL twice at the 7 month window. Once was for a May visit and once was for an Oct. visit. We stayed in a studio both times. Sometimes I think it is just luck!

I booked 1BR, and 1 studio @BWV, standard view, only 4 months out, during the F&W festival. Though, I did have to wait list for one night for the 1BR, which did eventually come through. You never can tell what you are going to be able to get.
