Which DVC Resort for Studios w/ Roll-In Showers

Hi all -

I'm helping my mother decide on which DVC she will purchase. At first, the salesman was trying to get her to buy at the Poly (because that's what they are selling). I suggested that she look at resale as well because the savings might outweigh the lost incidental benefits.

Anyway - the complication is that my little brother has cerebal palsy and is completely w/c bound and will need a roll-in shower for every trip. She plans to take him 2x/year for a few days at a time so that they can vacation together. In other words, she only needs a studio with a roll-in shower but with the limited availability of these room types, I'm wondering which resort she should buy at to get the full 11 month booking window for her preferred dates (typically off-season in Sept, Jan and Feb).

Disney won't provide me with a breakdown of rooms by type with roll-in showers at DVC resorts so I thought I would ask the pros. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I have a friend with CP and well chair bound they have a DVC there home resort is old key west but they have booked others ( I think now they have done animal kingdom broad walk contrary polly and maybe one other) they have never had a problem getting a studo with a roll in shower I think all DVC have about the same amount of room with roll in showers.

All of the DVC resorts have a similar proportion of rooms with roll in showers.
The smaller resorts will have a smaller actual number of rooms with roll in showers. The larger resorts, like OKW and Saratoga, will have more actual number, but the per cent of accessible rooms will be similar.

It's hard to get an exact number of studios with roll in showers because at most of the DVC resorts, there are not separate studios. They are connecting rooms to a one bedroom unit. The door between the 2 units can be locked, so they can be used by 2 different groups as a one bedroom and a studio. Or, the doors can be unlocked and used as a 2 bedroom unit.

Polynesian is different than the other DVC resorts because it has only studios and bungalows - not studios, one bedroom, two bedroom and Grand Villas like the other resorts.

Thank you both for your input. All of that makes sense. Now I need to take her down for her to see a few resorts to get a sense of what she values. I'm leaning toward taking her to Beach Club so that she can walk to Epcot with my brother. He can't ride anything so it seems like the best park for her to go and hang out with him.

Depending on your brothers specific needs, there are lots of WC accessible rides and shows especially. Mexico boats, Nemo, Figment, Living with the Land, the Pixar movie was great for my DS in WC he laughed and laughed.
