So we are currently planning a trip to visit the world from 12/26/07-1/1/08. We booked 2 rooms at the Contemporary, but are now thinking we may switch to a DVC resort instead. DH and I are DVC members, and could use our points to stay for some of the night, while my parents and 2 brothers could split the cost of the other cash nights.

So which DVC would be best around the holidays :santa: , best for 6 adults and a four-month-old :crowded: , and best in way of transportation to the parks:drive: ? We know it will be very crowded and hectic - so we want to pick the right place to come back to!! We know we will need a 2-bedroom....but are unsure of which resort would be the best choice!

So, what do you all think? :confused3

Without any kids (other than an infant) to accomodate, I'd say go for one of the EPCOT area resorts because you'll probably spend more time in EPCOT/MGM for the more adult holiday activities.

You will probably be stuck with the DVC resort that you own since you will need to make your reservation in the 11 month window. You are planning to go at the busiest time of year! You'll need a 2BR for your crew and I would recommend that you call day-by-day starting on 1/27 to get your unit.

We just stayed at VWL with 5 adults and an infant and it was great. If you're going to spend a lot of time at MK the boat is really handy. BCV would be another great choice with 2 parks within walking distance.

With 6 adults, I'd stay in an OKW 2 bedroom. Two queen beds, one queen sleeper sofa and one king bed. More room.

I agree with robinb, if you don't book your home resort first you probably won't get the complete stay you want. Book at your 11 month window then try another at the 7 month window if you don't want to stay at your home resort. A two bedroom or two studios would work. And it is true, OKW rooms are the largest of the DVC resorts.

with 6 adults...i'd go with okw....just for the room...
happy planning

My friend tried to book a 2BR for that time (1/1-1/6) late last February. By the time he got around to booking, all 2BRs at BWV were gone and he was put on the waitlist. We only got 1/3-1/6 :(. Luckily, I booked at studio for the same time (day-to-day, at the 11 month window) as a back-up and my friends were able to wrangle a studio for 12/29-1/3.

If you are able to switch at the 7-month window, I would recommend BWV or BCV if you're planning to spend NYE at Epcot or MGM. Walking to the parks cannot be beat. If you're planning to be at the MK, I would recommend VWL, OKW or SSR. The OKW and SSR buses go the back way to/from the MK and there is a LOT less traffic after the fireworks.

Thanks for all the input! I like the idea of OKW just b/c of all the extra room.

We are actually not using points for this trip, rather hoping to get a cash discounted room. I called the other day, and was told that nothing is available to book with cash until the 11 month window at any of the DVC resorts. So, I guess I will have to wait until 2/1 until I call and attempt to get a 2-bedroom with the discount. So, I am sure it will depend on availability at that point.
