Which DVC one bedrooms sleep 5?

I have seen this on another website:
  • One Bedroom Villas can accommodate four people plus one child under age three in a crib. 5th guest can be accommodated, but must provide their own bedding and linens.

Is this true? If so, can that 5th person be put on the reservation?
If you are booking through DVC. If booking through Disney Reservation Center, no. But you have to bring your own bed, pillows, sheets, blankets, towels. You only get bed space, linens and stuff for four in those one bedrooms. In some cases it may be hard finding a space for the bedding you bring. It could be tight.

I should clarify my intentions. If I am able to reserve it would be through RCI exchange. I already have a unit off site @ HGVC Seaworld (3 bed) where we would actually sleep. I want a DVC unit to do FP+, DDP, free parking, and as a resting place during the day if my husband (a senior) gets tired. Then the "kids" (15-21) could stay at the parks later and take a Bus back to the unit, while we relax, before we all go back to HGVC for the night. So no one would actually be sleeping in the unit. So space isn't an issue for my situation. I have been in timeshares for a long time and my Cardinal rule is everyone has to have a real bed. Which is why 5 of us have a 3 bedroom to sleep in.

In that case, you have no problem. But make sure you actually use the room each day so your reservation isn't cancelled.

If you have 5 people, and you're not staying there, why not just book one of the 5 person occupancy studios? That would be less points.

I actually have a request in with RCI for either a 5 person studio or 1 bedroom, but I won't have any control over what actually matches. And if nothing matches, I still have somewhere to sleep. I just won't have on site perks.

I think OKW, BLT and AK are the only ones that sleep 5 in a 1 BR. DVC will allow a 5th person into the other locations for 1 BR unit, but you would need to supply / rent your own bedding (like an air matress) for the 5th person.

Will they really allow a 5th in a one bedroom? I was wondering about this! It seems so crazy a studio can have 5, but not a 1 bedroom!

Yes, they have been allowing a 5th adult into all of the 1BRs except the AKV Values for quite a while now. You have to bring everything you need for the 5th person: a bed (most people bring some type of air mattress), linens, towels, etc.

Re: the upgrades to allow some studios to sleep five: The 1BRs at VWL and BVW have the connecting door to the studio in the living area, so there isn't enough room to squeeze in a murphy bed in between the door and the half-height wall of the kitchen. They were able to fit the murphy bed into the studio but had to eliminate the table to make room. That's why the renovated studios have that small camper-style table instead of the larger table that was there originally.

VGF one bedroom units sleep 5 (1 kingsize bed, 1 queen sofa sleeper, 1 bunk sized Murphy bed). The older (OKW, AKL) and newer (BLT, Aulani, VGF) DVC properties have larger "common" areas than the "middle" DVC properties (BCV, BWV, SSR, VWL). The one bedroom units in the "middle" properties don't have room (or not much) for a sleep chair or Murphy bed.

Edit: nevermind, didn't notice that OP's questions were two years old.

For those of you that have slept 5 in a one bedroom that does not have the sleeper chair (VWL, BWV, BCV, SSR) where did you put the extra bed? I assume it was a twin air mattress, was there room in the living room? Or in the Master bedroom?

You just have to find a place on the floor. Maybe in the kitchen, maybe right next to the window, maybe in the master bathroom.

I am tryIng to get an exchange through RCI for a DVC, actually 2 so my parents can go also. But my family has 5. Will they still allow 5 if the exchange is made through RCI? SSR seems to come up more often.....

If the reservation is through DVC (RCI), you would be able to have five in a SSR one bedroom villa. But they will not provide any extra linens, bedding or rollaways

Ok, thank you! So if I am lucky enough to get hopefully two 1 bedroom reservations for December or January, do I need to contact someone to add the 5th person in one of the rooms?

If you get an RCI reservation by trading your points, you can contact DVC with the information given to you by RCI.

Yes, DVC allows all DVC 1BRs to sleep five, but DVC will not furnish bedding nor towels for the fifth guest. And yes you can place their name on the reservation.

The table is attached to the murphy bed and collapses down and folds flat against what will be the underside of the murphy bed.
