I was planning on staying at the Wilderness Lodge on my next trip, but am now looking at maybe staying at a DVC instead. I was looking at either Villas at the Wilderness Lodge (although it is not showing available online), the Animal Kingdom Villas, Old Key West or Saratoga Springs. Which one is a good one for a solo stay? Do you feel far away from everything? How is the transportation? Is there alot of bus stops? Are these resorts pretty spread out?

I would suggest somthing in the Epcot Resort area. The Boardwalk or Beach Club. Just for the proximity to Epoct or the Sudios. Plus the "Boardwalk" has somewhat of a night life and with JellyRolls right there it would be fun. These resorts seem to offer a bit more as far as location.

As for a second option I would say Saratoga Springs. They have a SPA there and it is close to Down Town Disney, Pleasure Island or the West Side.

I would pick one of these so you would not have to rely on a bus for everything. Boardwalk would be my #1 choice.

The AKL is the farthest resort away from everything. You would need to take the buses for EVERYTHING! OKW is a bit closer however again the bus system would be used for EVERYTHING with the exception of Down Town Disney. They have a boat that runs. WIlderness Lodge is nice. They have a secluded pool for DVC, however I am no sure when you are looking at going. They have a boat that runs to the MK as well as thier bus transportation. They also have a bus that runs to Ft. Wilderness if you would like to head over there too.

for a solo alone would go with BWV or BCV. both are walking distance to both Epcot (which more adults like) and Studio. (okay you can take the boat)

that say of your choices either VWL because I love it, or SSR. both have the same setup - queen bed and double sleeper sofa.

would not stay at OKW (despite loving it) because it has 2 queen beds. You don't need the other bed and the sofa makes watching TV or just relaxing more enjoyable.

I've been soloing every year for about 15 yrs. now and enjoyed staying at the EPCOT area and also the VWL.

WL a good choice, boat to MK area, late nights @ MK...easy home, then, monorails to EPCOT :cloud9:

Going solo is no different than going with friends/family when choosing a resort. Pick the resort whose location, theme and amenities appeal to you the most. I spent a solo week at BCV in February, I'm spending a solo 2 1/2 weeks at VWL this month, and I have two weeks solo booked at BWV for January. I prefer the Epcot resort area when the weather is cooler, because it's more conducive to walking, and I like VWL in warmer weather, for the boat transportation (I like being on the lake and taking boat transportation to other resorts and to MK).

Truthfully I would pick either BCV or BWV. I've done solos at OKW and BWV and really just being able to walk to Epcot or MGM is a big bonus.

I do love OKW, and was fine there as a solo. However with AKL if you can swing it, I would book there too.

My least favorite is SSR, but that's an issue with theming for me. I feel like it is "too cold" there for me.

That all said, I would pick which resort appeals to you the most theming and location wise. All have good bus transportation when I have stayed/visited there.

I chose SSR...a spa on property within walking distance...Helloooo :)
In addition to DTD, and it is a beautiful resort, although I have not stayed there yet (June '08) we have visited and have seen the possibilities:)

Have a great time wherever you choose:)

I stayed solo at BWI and loved it - loved the resort and its size and also loved the proximity to the Studios and EPCOT - I love strolling into EPCOT from the international bridge. I am going solo to AKL this December, however, not as a choice against BWI, but because I love the lodge there and the restaurants and am imagining myself sitting in those deep chairs and watching people and writing in my journal, finding all the little niches that make AKL special. Just because I think it would be a quiet contemplative place to be when not in the parks.
