I'm not that big of a large roller coaster fan but i figure since I'm coming all the way from Texas to Florida to the wizarding world i should at least ride on of the dueling dragons. Which on the most docile as dragons go? Preferably the least drops?

Thanks!

I don't know, they both seem similar to me. If I recall correctly the red one goes a little faster and has more drops while the blue one has more loops.

I always preferred Pyrrock the Fire dragon which is now called the Chinese Fireball. :thumbsup2

Neither is more docile. Wouldn't worry too much about "drops" though. It's not that kind of coaster.

My niece and nephew who were there for their first visit lat week overwhelmingly preferred the blue dragon. I ride them both. Bothe look like they are going to hit each other but the blue one also looks like it is going to hit a wall.

tough question...they are both good....

I like Fire (red) AND Ice (blue)....but if you have to choose 1 for the front seat, wait on Ice (blue) :thumbsup2

I say if you're coming all that way...ride them both! :teeth:

I think you guys are misinterpreting the question. She is asking for which one is the least intense.

Blue has a shorter drop but more swooping manuevers in the long run

Red has a longer drop and a camelback hill but after that it's all about lateral motions.
I think Red jerks you around way more and is more intense in general but they're both more intense than the Hulk IMO

They are both pretty intense coasters, but the blue one is slightly less. Blue never really gives you that dropping feeling, while Red has a good part that does that. Blue is more loopy, twisty and just slightly slower than Red. Start with Blue and sit in the middle. The back row is always the most intense on any coaster, so stay away from the back rows.

Really, why is that? (I'm going to Universal for the first time in December and trying to figure out which coasters I can handle. :goodvibes)

In my opinion...Dragon Challenge is more intense because they are inverted coasters and Hulk is a regular sit down coaster. After the launch, Hulk is really just like any other coaster but it's a different feeling when your feet dangle the entire time...which is what happens on DC.

Okay, that makes sense. I've been on launch coasters before (RnR and Screamin') and other sit-down coasters, but I've never been on a coaster where your feet dangle and riders are hanging below the track rather than riding on top of it. I didn't realize it would make that much of a difference in ride intensity, but that was just an assumption. I guess I was wrong. :goodvibes

I completely disagree with Dragons being more intense than Hulk. Inverted coasters (Dragons style) are known for being smoother than regular sit-down style.

The Hulk has gotten very rough over the last several years. It really throws your head around, I get a headache after Hulk but not after Dragons. Hulk is amazing and worth it, but it does slam your head around more than any other coaster at Univ/IOA.

Dragons keep a smooth, sweeping momentum during the ride and doesn't slam you around as roughly as Hulk does.

OK, I was going to assume that if I survive Dragons, I could do Hulk. Now it seems maybe not. I have never done inverted coaster but think I might like it if it's smooth. It's too much roughness that gets me. If I like coasters but not lots of jerkiness, what do you suggest?

It's not THAT bad. You can't let isolated accounts deter you from riding something. Hulk is less intense for the reasons mentioned earlier. Yes it is moderately rougher, but you're not going to die from the roughness. If you find it too rough, you can just not ride it again.

I couldn't imagine coming all that way and not riding all 3! You'll only be kicking yourself when you get home! :) Sometimes the reviews & comments can make something seem worse than it is. Have fun!

I found both Fire and Ice banged me around, and I had a headache after getting off of Ice. They both were intense to me because I sat in the front row and those near misses are pretty scary! It's hard to determine whether a ride is tame or not, since wild to someone may be tame to others. I wasn't able to go on Hulk since it was closed for repairs the day I was there so I can't compare.
