So, I'm painting and decorating an unfinished child's rocking chair and hope chest that I got at Michael's crafts for my soon to be neice's baby shower. I painted and stained them in an antique ivory finish (looks old fashioned). I'm going to stencil her name on the chair but I also am going to decorate them. Which design do you like best?

**UPDATE AND NEW QUESTION**

I thank those of you who responded to my thread. The painting/staining turned out well however I don't think I like the appliques... it almost makes it look cheap. So... I'm planning on painting a quote/saying or something of that nature instead. I'm looking for inspirational sayings, phrases, blessings, quotes, Winnie the Poohisms, etc. I found one that I love but I think may be too "deep" (and maybe too long). It is as follows:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away

Any thoughts on that or suggestions of something else. Although it is for a "baby", it will be something that she hopefully keeps with her for a lifetime.

Hmmmm....that's a tough one for me as I like all of them!

My number one choice would be hearts, followed by butterflies, then the fairies and angels.

I love hearts for little girls! :cloud9:

I really like the fairies....so pretty

I personally like the hearts the best out of these pictures for the little girl. The faries would look nice for an older person. If it was tinkerbell that would be cute for a little girl. The dragon flies are cute, but I like hearts better.

I think the fairies are a little more unusual, since you are making it yourself.........hearts can be bought so easily, it won't look as "handmade". I do like the dragonflies, but again, the fairies are just more unusual. Besides, they are so cute, like little girls themselves, it's like she'd have little friends!

I voted for fairies. My daughter had that look for her room and loved it. Also, they look more old-fashioned to go with the antique ivory.

Do you know what the nursery will look like? If so you could choose the design that fits the color scheme the best.

Good luck and great idea for a keepsake present!

I love the dragonflies! They are so pretty. When I saw them, I thought they would make a great tattoo. Not probably the comment that will convince you to put them on a rocking chair, but they really look great.

Thanks everyone!!!

No theme for the nursery. I am leaning towards the fairies as well because my neice will have an older sister (from a previous marriage) and I think the fairies with the older/younger child remind me of her as a big sister (which she is going to be fabulous :goodvibes ).

I was also thinking of a nursery rhyme theme but I can't find anything unless I stencil the nursery rhyme sayings.... hmmmm :scratchin

I like all of them, but the fairies the most for the exact same reasons ToTLaugher said. :)

I like the dragonflies. My question is which would look best in the nursery. My sister made my DS13 a quilt when he was born only she thought we should decorate the nursery around the colors SHE chose for the quilt, pink and green. We had already done the nursery in primary colors and she got all mad that we didn't redo the nursery for her. :confused3

I'm not usually one for cutsie, but the fairies won me over. Beautiful faces. I think they fit the antique finish the best, too. :thumbsup2

I voted fairies. It looks like you are using Wallies. There are tons of other Cecily Mary Barker products for this (and future projects) for variety. There are scrapbook and other decoupage papers. I've bought a ton of stuff, just haven't completed anything yet!

PLEASE post a picture when you're done!
