Which Disneyland Resort Hotel would you choose and why?

We have only stayed at DLH and loved it. My dd who is 6 enjoyed the pool, the disney theming and the beautiful grounds. I liked the room service, the on site bar and the plesant atmosphere. Also the staff was great. We walked through the GC lobby and while it was pretty, it was too grown up for the kid. As an adult I might enjoy the atmosphere of GC but my kid prefers DLH.

Last time we chose DLH, but weren't that impressed. The grounds were pretty, but the hotel itself was kind of ordinary with Mickey sprinkled around. Plus, the pool was jam packed when we were there and freezing cold. My kids didn't even like going in.

We are trying Grand Californian. It just seems like the only truly themed hotel there is there and I guess we are spoiled by WDW and liking theming to a hotel (although I wish it was a lot cheaper.)

We stayed at DLh this May and I don't want to stay any where else. I loved our room , our view and the service we had. The Disney touches were wonderful , and the boys loved the pool.............ok , so did I! Breakfast in the steakhouse was great and so was goofy's kitchen. We also have walked through the GC and I really did not like it. Maybe too fancy for my type of Disney vacation , and PP is set too far back even though we really enjoyed the Lilo and Stich breakfast. We stayed in the Bonita tower of the DLH , and we had a view of the waterfall and Disneyland.

We've stayed at both the PP and DLH. Our last 4 trips have all been at the PP hotel except for one short trip off site. If you book early enough, you may get view side. We usually book 4-6 months in advance and each time we've been upgraded to view side. We usually stay 6-9 nights, but I'm not sure if that makes a difference in the upgrade. The view of the PP area in the park at night is spectacular. It's a little more of a walk to the monorail, but you can always use the GC entrance into CA. It's a little cheaper than DLH also.

If price is no factor, then I'd say the Grand Californian. Can't beat the location and the lobby is just incredible. I stayed in a park view room a few years ago and just loved being able to look out the window and see the park.

We have stayed at both DLH and GCH. We really love them both, and it really depends on what were in the mood for (and what's in our budget). We love the DLH for all the disney theming. The Peter Pan pool, with Goofy's kitchen there. All the old Walt Disney/Disneyland memorbila. The grounds with the koi ponds and water falls. Driving the little Jungle Cruise boats. Having Goofy be in the lobby on our way down from our room to interact with us! The stroll down DTD to Disneyland, eating and shopping there, with a quick walk back to our hotel.

We love the GCH because it's beautiful. The lobby, I could just sit in all day. The breath taking views we had of California Adventure, with such a nice balcony. The service was wonderful, and it has a very "resort" feel to it. Also it being "right there" in the middle of everything, making it nice when you have sore feet and don't want to walk far to your room!

We will go back to each of them many times in the future!

Disneyland Hotel is plain because it isnt disney owned :)

GC is really really nice!

I've always wanted to stay at the GC but never have. So if I had to pick a disney hotel, that's the one I'd pick, hands down.

We stayed at both within the last year and my preference is GCH. I loved being right in the middle of everything. While I would never turned down at trip at the DLH, I think one thing that turned me off was that we were in the Bonita Tower with a view of the parking lot. Even in the summer, I loved going into the GCH lobby and hanging out, listening to the piano player.

Uhhh, actually it is Disney owned.

It wasn't when it was originally built though, maybe that's what you were thinking about.

A piano player in the lobby of GC….ooooooh kewl ! Thanks Suzanne. Trying to glean any info about the GC I can.

We stayed at PP, it was nice and since we were not in the room all that much the price was what we liked. It is a ways to walk, especially at the end of the day when you have to carry little ones or push a stroller!! Its a decent hotel, we didnt get to use the pool when we were there but did use the hot tub one night!!

I guess it just depends on what you are looking for!!

I just reserved DLH today using our DVC points. DH and I would prefer GC, but DD5 absolutely loves Peter Pan and so we went with DLH. We saw our friend's room at DLH on our last trip and although we weren't "wowed" it did have cute touches that I know DD will appreciate. If we weren't with kids, it would be GC for us. As for PPH, everything I have read doesn't make it sound worth the extra $ vs. off-site hotels since it used to be a Radisson or something and the pool looks very stark/bleak to me...

For what it's worth, we're at the GC now and we're not that impressed this time. We've had problems with the room (poorly cleaned, maintenence issues, more maintenence issues), the bell desk lost a package for two days that we had sent from home and they told us had arrived (You mean you didn't already pick it up?), the concierge lounge is understaffed and hence runs out of items at peak times, etc. Compared to our past trips here, the quality has gone down quite a bit. Luckily our experience everywhere else has been great so it's not spoiling our vacation or anything, but if I was a first timer and had spent extra money to stay here, I'd be very disappointed.

They all have their advantages/disadvantages. We've never stayed at Paradise Pier because it seems so far away, but the other two we love!

DLH - nice location close to monorail or lovely walk through Downtown Disney. Goofy's is in the hotel, we always go there each trip so staying at the hotel makes it that much easier. The rooms are larger than GC, brighter - older, not so fancy, but lovely. Very nice pool. With kids, I would prefer this hotel.

GC - best location! Rooms are very small, kinda dark. Service for us wasn't as good her as at DLH. Love Storytellers and White Water Snacks. And the fireplace is wonderful, especially if you're there in the winter, which we were. It's not as Disney themed as the DLH, so kid would probably prefer DLH. Very nice spa. :)

Overall we prefer the DLH. Better service, not quite so expensive, more space. But I would love to take a trip just DH and I and stay at the Grand Californian. One day...

We stayed at the GCH for five days last week. I think it was the most relaxing experience in a hotel that I've ever had. The beauty of the lobby goes without saying, as does the proximety to the parks.

I loved sitting outside of Whitewater snacks and listening to the 49er band while I had a snack.

The bellhops were wonderful, when there was a problem locating our bags, they brought me 'backstage' instead of sugar coating things.

The maid staff always had things up to par, and the turn down service made things just a little bit more *sigh*.

Loved having the robes, they made it so comfortable staying there.

Having a fridge there without having to ask, also a plus.

And I don't know if all the hotels do the triple sheeting...but yay! I could have slept for days.

I hope you'll let TPTB know. If you don't tell them they can't "fix it".
