Which Disney Resorts sleep 5?

I am having some confusion about which of the mod and deluxe Disney resorts can accomodate 2 adults and 3 kid (12,9,4). I am preparing for the eventual AP rates. Thanks!! MJ

The only moderate that will sleep 5 is Port Orleans Riverside, and only in the Bayou section. You need to request a trundle bed room.

Of the deluxes, all of them will sleep 5, but not all in the standard rooms. I think only WL and AKL will not sleep 5 in a standard room, provided you get a room with a daybed, although I'm not postive on that. I do know that the MK monorail resorts will sleep 5, not sure about Epcot area.

Another option is Fort Wilderness Cabins, those will sleep 6. Or, a 2 bedroom (best bet is to rent points) at a Home Away from Home (such as Boardwalk Villas, Villa's Wilderness Lodge, Beach Club Villas or OKW), which will sleep 8.

Enjoy your trip.

Not all of the rooms at the Beach Club and I think Yacht Club and Boardwalk have daybeds. If you want to accomodate 5 people at any of those be sure and tell them you need a room with a daybed and have them note it on the reservation.

At the Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge, the deluxe rooms will accomodate 5.

Poly and Contemporary have the largest rooms and all rooms (to my knowledge) have daybeds. I don't know about the Grand Floridian but my guess is that most, if not all, will accomodate 5.

Thanks for your quick replies. Now I have an idea at least. I don't think I am able to afford the Poly or Contemp, so I am going to shoot for one of the other possibilities...MJ

gingajane - I would check into booking a FW cabin or renting points from a DVC owner.

The cabins sleep 6 comfortably & have a port-a-crib, full kitchen, outdoor deck & FW has so, so much to do. It's a beautiful. Disney's best kept secret as far as I'm concerned.

Renting points for a 2BR is another good option. We did this last Nov., came home & bought into DVC. We loved OKW & can't wait for our first trip home now. :D

Definitely check into these 2 options.

The deluxe's all sleep 5. That's 2 queens and a day bed. I just checked into this for our trip. Call CRO if you have any questions.:D :D :D

Can you tell me where to go on the web to look for renting points. I am totally unfamiliar with how this works for the DVC program.

Thanks!

Splashfamily--Not all deluxes sleep five.

The Polynesian, GF, and Contemporary rooms all have daybeds. Some of the BC, BWI, and YC rooms do NOT. We've been in BC and YC rooms without them.

KellyJ--Not all the deluxe rooms at the AKL have daybeds either. We were in one wiht an oversized chair instead--made for a lot more room in the room.

I don't believe any rooms a the WL have daybeds (but I stand corrected if I'm wrong.)

I agree with the idea of renting DVC points as a good alternative. In a 2BR you'll have a full kitchen, and can save a bundle eating some meals in your villa.

You can rent them on the Rent/Trade board of this site.

When we did it I watched the board for a few days, asked many questions, sent many e-mails & then proceeded with the transaction.

Many people recommend renting from someone who has a lot of posts on these boards, which I agree is a good idea.

Also, before we sent any money, I got references from the owner we were renting from & I contacted each one of them. I would not have rented from anyone that did not get a good reference.

The transaction went smooth and we had a great time. We bought into DVC when we returned from that trip we liked it so much.

It is definitely an option that should be looked into. Also, you will not pay tax on points rented from an owner. Having the kitchen in a 1BR or 2BR is a real luxury & money saver I feel.

Good luck.

I posted a message on the DVC Board. My first question is will a one bedroom accomodate a family of 5...Maybe a good economical way to do this is stay at the DVC during the weekdays and finish outside of the parks to see other attractions on the weekend. Thanks again for your direction! :)

Sorry, the 1BR's only accomodate four plus an infant under two. There are a very few studios that can sleep five, but that would be a very tight squeeze.

I have been considering an off-site resort for this trip, but am just a bit hesitant about it. I played with point calculator and found that Nov.6-12 are bit pricey for this trip. I want to be right in the action, but may have to settle for right " close" to the action. I do so appreciate the info...knowledge is power! MJ

We are 3 adults and 3 kids 10/7/5.

Will they let 6 of us in one room at a deluxe resort?
Two of the kids could sleep in the daybed.
Thanks.

Not unless one of the kids was two or under. Two kids are not going to comfortably sleep in a daybed. Some of the resorts daybeds are smaller than a twin in length and width. Not to mention six people sharing one bathroom migh be really tight.

Not to mention you will have to pay extra for the thrid adult. In your case you'll likely be better off with two connecting rooms at a moderate or value.

Another suggestion is the Fort Wilderness Cabins. They will comfortably sleep six, plus have a fully equipped kitchen. Still only one bath though. You could also look into renting DVC points and getting a 2BR--that would give you two baths, a full kitchen, and a washer/dryer. Will likely cost more than one deluxe room, but the savings if you eat some meals in will offset.

Thanks Ducklite...
We've been at Ft Wilderness cabins before and love them.

We're only going to need 1 night hotel on the back side of a 3 night Wonder cruise. I thought that the cabins would be too much hassle for one night.
Looks like we'll just do 2 standard rooms.
Thanks so much.

Hey Ducklite! Thanks for the info on the AKL deluxe rooms. We've never stayed there but wanted to and when I inquired, was told that the deluxe rooms would accomodate 5. If we ever do decide to try it, I will be sure to have them note that we want a daybed!

I don't remember the setup for the deluxe rooms at WL but seems like there were bunkbeds involved?? At any rate, I was also told that they would accomodate 5, but again, all of the duluxe rooms may not.

Crowsie, you might want to check into some of the rooms at the Swan or Dolphin. I seem to remember reading that they have a deluxe room or suite-type setup that sleeps 6 and the price was very reasonable. They also have some good discounts available.

Gingajane, I think at least some rooms at the Swan and Dolphin also sleep 5 (forgot those in my earlier post) so it might be worth looking into for your trip. DreamsRes often has some good discounts for these hotels and if you're a teacher/nurse/government/military worker then you can save quite a bit!

Don't necessarily count out the Contemporary - half of the Contemporary rooms are in the Wings, and they can be very affordable. If there is a code when you go, you could get a room there for as low as $159 (plus tax) per night. Granted, the Port Orleans would be much less expensive - it just depends on what you are looking for. Either one is a great option - as well as renting points. Enjoy.
