We stayed at the CR and did Chef Mickeys on our checkout morning. By then my 2 yo son had seen characters in the parks and was a little more relaxed around them. I had also gotten the Sing Along Beach Party video (live characters and kids) to help him get used to the idea of characters. He had a blast (as did we) and got some great photos. The characters there include Goofy, Pluto, Minnie, Mickey, Chip and Dale. It is buffet style and the characters make their way to all of the tables.

I second Chef Mickey's. We have done it 4 times and my kids enjoyed it everytime. (6mths,2 1/2 yrs,4yrs,5yrs,7yrs) Oh and don't forget about the parents and grandparents we love it too.

I think Chef Mickeys is a great one, too =) The food is usually pretty good, it doesnt feel really cramped, and the characters are good =)

Another vote for Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary. The characters are very good with the little ones. We were there when one of our boys was around 9 mos. and they were very gentle with him. Minnie even tried to feed him his cereal. We have gone there b4 doing the parks in the morning and also later at around 10:30. My DH likes the later breakfast time because you can go to the MK for a while and then take the monorail over to Chef Mickey's. Have a great time!

Two Very big thumbs up for Chef Mickey's!!!!! It's a buffet, so even the pickiest eater will be able to find something to eat. We have been doing Chef Mickeys as our last Disney meal for years since our DS was about a year and a half old, an our DD was 6 months. They are now 11 and 7. The kids really look forward to it. They love swinging the napkin, dancin' in the aisles etc.......and of course the mickey waffles and mickey pancakes!! All of the main characters are there, with the exception of Donald. I'ts a bit noisey, but so much fun, its worth it! Cant wait for August!!!

not to go against the grain...because chef mickeys is great...but the breakfast with winnie the pooh and friends at the crystal palace in MK is also very good. My youngest was 2 when we went and we stayed for sometime and was able to warm up to the characters. The added value is if you do an early morning say around 8 - 8:15 when your done your already in the park before it opens so you get that jump on a couple of rides before the major crowd gets down to you.

well thankyou all for your replys !!!:chat: its good to know that people are willing to help you have a good holiday!!
:grouphug:
i think we will probably wait til the end of our holiday to take him so that he is familiar with all the characters otherwise it may be a bit daunting for him !! anyway thanks again !!

My kids really loved the CP with Pooh and friends. The characters were great, the food was good, there's something special sitting with all the glass the the sunlight hitting you that just feels magical. It's also really nice to get an early PS and be finishing breakfast just as the park is opening up.

I too have a PS for Chef Mickey's :bounce: for check out day.
question, It appears this meal is definitley focused for the little ones, and that is great. But I will be there with DH and DS17.
Are we too "old" for the experience? It just sounds like a great "last opportunity" and a great meal for the magic to stay with us on the trip home to Calif. Whatcha all think? still go? The characters won't be too animated with us "old folks" ?
they are welcome to entertain the little ones........we just want to enjoy the food and observe........

We all really enjoyed Chef Mickey's. We also received the Character breakfast with the tickets we bought and my DH was very reluctant to even go. We had a wonderful time my DS's were 6 and 8 at the time. Since your son is younger he may enjoy Pooh more. I have the picture they took on my desk at work and look at it everyday and think about what a wonderful time we had. By the way my reluctant DH now tells people that they shouldn't miss a character breakfast:earsboy:

Personally, my favorite is Donald's Breakfastosaurus at the Animal Kingdom. The food is excellent and we have TWICE had incredible character interaction. (At first seating of the day and at one of the last seatings - 10am-ish) We have had all the characters at our table and lots of fun Hi-Jinx:cool: Plus the CMs are cut-ups...I LOVE it there...

Just a friendly correction.....my DS is 17 not 7. But reading your post , it sounds like your DH really enjoyed it. My son has a great sense of humor and all and probably will enjoy (like me) seeing all the little kids enjoying the experience with their expressions. I had planned with DH and DS's imput about a PS for Whispering Canyon Cafe breakfast, but after seeing a clip on the Travel channel of the experience, DS opted for a no vote....reason? he thought I would get too goofy with the CM's....ha ha ha He thinks that I would embaress him!! why would he think that? ha ha ha LOL, gee, I guess 17 years of experience.
Thanks, I hope that we keep the PS and get to go. Late breakfast (11am) before we gotta fly home.........

We have done Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace and both are great. Our son really enjoyed both, he was two at the time. He enjoyed the characters at both places.

I think if you went with either of these you can't go wrong. The food is good at both also.

Well i would just like to say thanks again for all your replys its so nice to hear of all your experiences !! and im sure we will have alot to tell you when we get home too like i said before its nice to know that other people are willing to help us have a good holiday !!!it really is much appriciated

A BIG THANKYOU TO EVERYONE !!!
:jumping1:

your all lifesavers !! :wizard:
thanks again from genia

I loved the Crystal Palace at MK and I loved Donald's Breakfestsaurus at AK.

The characters at Chef Mickey's will interact with all guest without regard to age. The more attention you give them, the more they will give you.

We've done the Crystal Palace, Cinderella's Royal Table, and Chef Mickey's. Chef Mickey's is VERY unhurried, more characters, and they take their time at the table, but with a 1.5 year old, unless you're staying at the Contemporary, it requires more organization than the Crystal Palace. If you do the CP on a day when you're at the Magic Kingdom, you're already there, walk out of breakfast and on to a ride.

We did the Crystal Palace with my son (aka Happy) when he was 14 months. He LOVED it, and the video is priceless. To prepare him for characters, we told him over and over again that Pooh etc. would be "big like Daddy". Daddy is 6', around 200 lbs, so when he saw Tigger, he wasn't surprised or scared, but bounced right up to him.

Cinderella's is fabulous on atmosphere and so so on food. My son loves it (he's a ladies man, anyway) but is still only 4, so is not put off or bored by the princess theme. It's my favorite because I'll do just about anything for one on one time with Mary Poppins. It's really hard to get a reservation there, so maybe it's worth it, if you have reservation assistance, to make that your package deal? I don't do packages so I don't know if that's, in fact, the case, or an option.

Finally, CP and Chef Mickey's have the same (I think exact same) menu. Chef Mickey's, however, offers the professional photo shoot, where you have the option to buy the $25 package of a family photo with a 5x7, key rings, fridge magnet, etc.

Have fun!

May I suggest priority seating. It isn's as big a deal before June for the rest of the dining possibilities, but if you want to go at a particular time with almost no wait (even in May), call 407-wdw-dine NOW! I'm going in july and just tried to book a character lunch 89 days out to find that noon to one was already completely booked. I can imagine that the best times will be gone by the time you get to DW.
