Which dinner show?

If we can only do one, which should we choose?

  • Spirit of Aloha Polynesian Luau

  • Hoop De Doo Review

  • Mickey's Backyard BBQ

If you could only fit in one of these...which one? We will be at WDW near the end of April, with Me, my DD (then 2 1/2), my Mom, and my Sister. I've never been to any of them. We will be staying at WL so it shouldn't be too difficult to get to any of them, I just don't know which to choose.

If you don't mind commenting, please tell me in your post what your second choice would be in case I can fit in two! TIA

I have only been to Spirit of Aloha and was quite disappointed with it. The food was alright, but the entertainment was lacking. The storyline was pretty lame and only at the end did it pick up when the fire dancer came out. I went with DD4 and she wasn't all that impressed. My suggestion is to check out non WDW dinner theaters. We have done Dixie Stampede and Arabian Nights. My DD loved both of these. We went to Arabian Nights in August and DD is still singing the songs and re-enacting the show. That was her favorite part of our trip. These shows are also a lot cheaper than Disney as well if you buy discount tickets from AAA or ticketmania.com

Thanks for the suggestions but we won't have a car this time! Therefore our choices are limited to Disney. I will be sure to try one of the others the next time, though!

I thought my mom and sis might enjoy the luau but was worried about DD getting bored.

we did spirit of aloha about three years ago and were disappointed... nothing was bad, but it wasn't outstanding (and for the price they charge, it should be *outstanding!*)

for our last trip we debated between mickeys bybbq and hoop dee doo... finally selected hddr 'cause it's air conditioned (and we were there first week of september)... and boy oh boy, are we glad we did! it was the BEST dinner show i have ever seen! worth every penny and more! WE LOVED IT! i cannot imagine not enjoying it fully! the corn-ball jokes were great! kids were falling off their chairs laughing! the food was excellent... best fried chicken i have ever consumed... and the all-you-care-to-drink beer/wine/sangria was a nice bonus (i realize it's a "bonus" that you pay for, but it was nice nonetheless)... and the strawberry shortcake was divine! our server was awesome! she went "next door" (trail's end) to get ds a variety of diff't foods 'cause he was not happy w/the chicken/ribs (he's picky)...

obviously, i highly recommend HDDR! imo, it is a MUST DO from now on!

ENJOY!

I voted for Hoop, I have been to all three and Hoop is the only one I would return to.

Thank you all for your replies! Maybe we will only do HDDR then, and if our schedule has another free night, maybe I'll consider Cirque instead of another dinner show. :scratchin
