What buffet do you think has the best food quality for dinner? I'm trying to plan a meal for my fiance's family and I?

Crystal Palace is out because I've been there twice and was disappointed in the food as was my fiance on his trip there.

Boma is out because, having spent time in Africa, I find the food there unexciting.

We don't really care about characters or if there are some, who they are.

My DH likes Crystal Palace I love 1900 Park Fare.

Chef Mickey is OK a lot like CP

Do not like the food at the Princess Storybook Dinner.

Do not like the Dinner at Biegarten although it gets good reviews. The show is great.

Hate the food at H and V reminds me of cafeteria food.

Trails End is ok

Have not done any of the others on your list.

So far, this is going towards my gut feeling - 1900 Park Fare. :cool1:

Don't know where you were in Africa, but Boma's food rocks. I lived overseas 12 years, multiple locations, and I've experienced the good and the bad.

If you choose somewhere else, just try to make a trip to AKL to peek into Boma and Jiko's. (And savor the smell of the many fantastic foods). Don't miss the opportunity to have a drink in their Lounge. Such atmosphere!

Off your list-I liked Biergarten. Reminded me of Germany, good food, lots of fun!

.......Went back and looked at your group, is it you, fiance and your to be inlaws? Biergarten is loud at times, not always great for conversation. You gotta go with what you'd like, but if you want a complete stranger's input, I'd choose Boma hands down for your group. Great service, great food, and nice for conversation. Best to you-congrats on your engagement!

If you have not actually tried Boma, I would highly recommend it. The food is wonderful! I have spent a vacation in Africa (not an extended amount of time - just two weeks), and I love AKL and Boma! Our family thinks it is the best buffet on property by far, even DH who is generally opposed to buffets in principle.

You've probably spent time in the US as well, but that doesn't stop you from eating the food, does it? ;)

If you are absolutely opposed to Boma for whatever reason, I'd probably go with Park Faire simply because you didn't like Crystal Palace.

Jiko's I love and I'm already planning a meal there on our honeymoon.

Boma to me is uninteresting and unappealing and I wasn't too impressed with the food there in comparision to the food I had in some parts of southern Africa. (Shocking I know, I know its a pet here on the DIs) I'm trying to convince my F-SIL and F-MIL to go with me in a couple years back to southern Africa and we will get our exposure there, along with all the wonderful wines.

Boma is great, even DH who isn't a soup liker enjoyed the soups at Boma. Plus the rib and salmon is delicious :)

Claire ;)

We like 1900 Park Fare. Didn't have ANY bad food there at all which is saying something for a buffet.

1900 Park Fare has the best food of any buffet I've tried and I've tried a lot. If it doesn't have to be a buffet, you could try Garden Grill. We always go there at least once.

I've never tried Cape May, but I would do it as a breakfast if I did, because there are no characters at dinner.

Is H & V bad? We just booked the fantasmic pkg to go there. Have 2 very very picky boys 6 & 8

The food was terrible when we were there last year. Since our boys are 21 and 19 and have not gone with us (the oldest went four years ago, the youngest hasn't been in seven years), I don't know what they served for the kids. But what my husband and I had was bland, some cold and they ran out of a lot of things and took forever to replenish. Plus we found the service to be extremely SLOW.

I agree with the others that Boma is the best buffet at WDW and one of our favorite all around WDW restaurants, although it may not compare to the food in Africa. After that I would choose Crystal Palace or 1900 Park Fare. We didn't care for H&V either.

That said, since you don't care about the characters, you may have a better meal if you choose a restaurant that is not a buffet (although I know that is not what you asked ;). While the food at the buffets is good, we have definitely had better meals at some of the other WDW restaurants. JMHO

I'm going to go against the tide. We went to 1900 Park Fare this past April and I was soooooo disappointed in the food. I just wanted my money back. No, nothing was "bad" but it was so mediocre and I hated the whole set up of the buffet line. I'm still mad at myself for going there. My kids (who are older) hated it too. I will never, never, never go there again (this was my 2nd trip there).

Anyway, I think Boma has the best food and I doubt you'll find anything there that resembles what you had in Africa--after all this is Disney. I think it's just "African-inspired". But, if you are dead set against it, I ended up picking Cape May off of your poll. Again, buffet food, but I've eaten there at least 5 times and have always been satisfied with the selections/quality there.

In my opinion, the best buffet used to be Akershus, now it's Boma. The food is good, whether it's authentic African or not (which I think mostly not).

Have to say if you did not like Boma you will not be impressed with any of the other buffets. Boma is the best buffet we have ever been to anywhere. Second I would have to say Crystal Palace but that is not on your list either. Then Hollywood and Vine.

Agree-1900 Park Fare is very mediocre food. The characters are great though.

I'd say as far as "quality", all buffets are pretty much the same. They're all Disney restaurants, so it really all depends on what you like to eat. I'll have to go with the majority and say that IMO, Boma is the best buffet on property. Unless they're eating Potatoes with Afritude, Chicken Tenders and
Spaghetti & Meatballs in Kenya these days, I wouldn't consider it authentic African by any stretch on the imagination. It's simply African influenced.
