For a single mom with a 5 year old? Would like to have a kid's club with very easy access if not onsite, good pool, and good transportation to the parks.

Looks like you have some great choices there. :)

I had gone to Disney as an only adult with my grandson when he was five and other years as well. We have stayed at the Polynesian, so I voted for that resort. With monorail access to MK and a short walk to TTC for monorail access to Epcot, Poly transportation can't be beat. To me, Poly transportation is the very best of all Disney resorts. DGS loved the volcano pool at Poly also. We have tried other resorts since then and loved those too, but we would like to go back to the Polynesian some day.

The reason I did not choose one of the Epcot resorts was because I thought with a five year old, you might be spending more time at MK than Epcot.

ps. DGS also loves Wilderness Lodge with the geyser and cool lobby.

The fireworks are beautiful right from your bed or balcony if you get a MK view. Garden room views are lovely too. The ferry to MK is AWESOME and being on the monorail is great! The lush gardens and plants all over are beautiful scenery. The beach is great, kids LOVE playing in the sand and wading in the water - they can't swim though. My children prefered the quiet pool, the volcano pool got pretty crowded but they did enjoy the waterslide.

My vote was for the Contemporary because you would be staying at the Resort which is the closest one to the Magic Kingdom, so you can use the walkway they have to the Magic Kingdom and when you take the Monorail in my opinon they are Resort which is set up best for it because of the way it goes around.

Their swimming pool is ok however others don't think so, although in my opinion I don't choose a Resort based on how the pool looks.

They no longer have a kids program, however you can still use the one at the Polynesian and since it's on the Monorail line you would not have far to go.

Poly b/c it has the Neverland club right inside the resort area and they have the monorail.

Well, if you're looking for a resort with a kids club I'd say the Poly. But if you're looking for a resort that's convenient with a little one I'd say Contemporary. I took my older niece when she was 5 and we had a blast staying at the CR. It was easy to travel back and forth on the monorail, we stayed in the tower so everything was close by and easy to access, and the view can't be beat! I'll be taking my 4 yr old niece to stay at the CR in September.

I stayed at the Poly for the first time in December and didn't really care for it, the resort is too spread out. I think I might feel a bit nervous walking the grounds alone at night.

Another vote for Poly. Alot more for your 5 year old to do. Plus they have the Lilo & Stitch character breakfast that would be awesome in the morning.

A great thing about Poly is the main pool. Its a zero entry (kind of like a beach) your 5 yr old can go in as deep as he feels comfortable. At CR its quiet a walk to get to the pool area from the tower. I just remember its was extremely hot on the bricks. Plus all the lounge chairs were always taken up even though no one was sitting in more than half of them. At Poly I never had problems finding a table to sit at.Best way to decide to is to look at the resort photos. AllEarsnet's site has great photos plus menus. Your 5 yr old will love the kiddie kone dessert that they have at Kona Cafe at Poly.

For what you are asking for, then the Poly is your resort.

the Poly and the Beach Club both have kids clubs right there and have great transportation.

SAB at BC is an awesome pool. The Poly pool is nice too but not as large and no hot tub (if that matters to you).

Have a great trip --- voted for BC after much dilbriation thoughts and research we decided BC looked like the best for our ffamily of three

Just a word to the wise: If you asked which resort was good for a 5 year old, a 50 year old, an 80 year old, a dead dog, a paper clip or Jesus Christ Himself, the winner would be the Poly.

The Poly wins every contest it is in around here. It IS a great hotel and would suit your needs well! I'm not slamming it; it's great. But it doesn't matter what you put it up against, or for what reason, the Poly always wins.

I voted for the Beach Club because it never gets enough votes and has the best pool for kids, IMO. But if the Magic Kingdom is where you'll be spending most of your time, then a monorail resort is a good choice (Poly.)

When was Jesus Christ staying at the Poly? I didn't read anything on the DIS about his visit. Did he care for Ohana?

We have stayed at both the Poly and Cont. and I voted for the Cont. for you. If I were going as a single mom with 1 child, I would prefer to be in a place with everything in one building. When we went, the CR was cheaper than the Poly-that may not be so in your case, but it was for us. I didn't do the kids club, so I can't answer for that part. The MK Tower view is spectacular. What was really sweet-one of my best memories-is having all my kiddies in their pjs on the balconey watching the fireworks (sigh!!).
I am sure all the mommies can agree with me there!!
But if you pick the Poly and can get a better view than we did & be closer to the main building, it might be just as great for you. Our kids loved both, but last time I asked they wanted to go back to the Cont. It's just a cozy kinda place!! Some one has a link with pix to the new rooms-they really look cool!! Let us know what you pick- Anything with your little man will be wonderful!!

The Poly wins every poll because it's awesome!

No, seriously, it's an amazing hotel. BUT, the other hotels you listed were also good. I love the Yacht and Beach club...beautiful resorts.

Good luck!

I voted for the Poly due to monorail, theming, zero entry pool good for young swimmers, character meal w/Stitich & Lilo. I think the CR would fit your needs as well. I think the pool at CR is fine - my kids thought it looked awesome from the pictures. I haven't stayed at the CR but it looks like everything is connected - I know its Disney but I personally would feel safer having everything (front desk, c/s etc.) all under one roof especially at night if I was traveling alone with my kids. I admit it I'm a chicken.

We have ressies at the Poly and I'm already trying to talk my DH into doing the laundry because I'm too chicken to walk the paths at night by myself.;) The Epcot resorts I didn't really research much because I wanted to be close to the MK. Good luck!

I have stayed at CR and Poly. I LOVE CR. Poly was nice and I like being close to the Kona Cafe, GREAT Tonga Toast!! But I love the tower at CR. We had a MK view and there is nothing like it! I am going to try the GF this year. The All-star is more in my budget but I am going to splurge this time!!

I would definitely pick the Poly as #1 but Beach club would come in at a close second for the AMAZING pool and beaches and cream!

My vote goes to the Beach Club - much better pool, more convenient location (matter of opinion, but walking to Epcot and the boat to MGM beats the monorail for us) and I personally prefer the self contained resort set up (BC, YC, WL, AKL, BWI, Contemp) Deluxe Resorts over the lodge style set up of the Poly and even the Grand Floridian.

Happy planning!
