If you were taking someone for their first trip, which deluxe would you stay at and why? I'm taking DBF in September and I'm torn. I've never planned a trip by myself and I'm pretty clueless. I want this trip to be extra special because it's our first vacation together. Not to mention it may be, hopefully will be, when he proposes. *fingers crossed* We're just 2 20somethings who like to have fun. I just really need some opinions. TIA.

If you really want to splurge, try Grand Floridian. I would love to stay there, but we really can't afford it. But I HAVE toured it...AMAZING!! We have stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge. It was incredible. WONDERFUL SERVICE!!!

I chose the Contemporary (MK view preferably).

It's my favorite Deluxe resort. To me it epitomizes everything Disney is and is the "heart" of Disney plus it has amazing views and is the only resort that you can walk to MK!

When I was planning a trip with my "newbie" sister and niece, Contemporary was a given IMHO for them to experience Disney at its finest.

Good luck!

I voted Poly because I think it feels romantic. But I will also say that BC BW or YC would also be good choices because I really think walking back to your room from Epcot or MGM at night can be very magical. It was very relaxing for us and we had children with us ... I can only imagine how nice it would be without them lol ;).

I've gone on vacation at Disney many times and have stayed at various resorts off property due to a split between Disney, Universal and Seaworld/Discovery Cove. This year we decided to stay on Disney as only one day we'll be offsite at Universal.

So we thought about where to stay and time and time again, we kept going back to GF as the preferred choice for us. So for us, GF was the answer to our question of where to make our first stay at Disney.

If you have the money, I would say the Poly with a view of the MK and the lagoon. The Poly is like being in Hawaii, it is so beautiful and serene. Also it is on the monorail line so you can just hop on to go to MK or walk over to TTC and hop on one to go to Epcot. This is my fav resort and I am hoping to stay there in 2 years when my DH and I have our 10 year anniversary. My second choice would be either BC or BW, I have never stayed in either of these, but it is a short walk, or boat ride to Epcot and of course the Boardwalk is right at your back door. Have a great trip and have fun deciding.

I voted GF, and Poly would be my runner up. I thin part of teh "magic" of disney is the Magic kingdom and the castle, so being close to and able to see the caslte (even if not from your room) would be very fun for a fist timer in particular, IMO. also, the GF is SO ROMANTIC. we honeymooned there and especially if you are hoping to be proposed to, you couldn't be in a more romantic place! IMO this resort is teh best DIsney offers and I would want to splurge and go over the top!

* our honeymoon was also DH's first time in Disney, so same thing, I wanted to show him the BEST time I could, and now he loves Disney too and we are going back in December!

If you think he would like the Magic Kingdom, then the Poly. If you think he would like Epcot, then the Beach Club.

We started out at WL for our first deluxe than moved up to Poly. I'd say either WL or Poly.

I voted for the Beach Club. I love the Epcot area resorts.
I think for your ages you would enjoy this area. You are a short walk from the International Gateway at Epcot and all of the wonderful restaurants in WS. You could spend an evening "drinking around the World" and be a short walk home.
You can walk to MGM or take a boat over.
There is lots to do at the Boardwalk, with the ESPN Club, the BrewPub and Jellyrolls,, the dueling piano bar. It is a blast.
And Stormalong Bay at the Beach Club is the best pool on property.
Have a Great Trip.

I voted for Polynesian. From the moment we began planning our first family trip to WDW I had wanted to stay at Poly. I think it exudes romance. The grounds are beautiful and the dining options are wonderful. BC or AKL would be the runners up for us.

I voted for the Contemporary because the Magic Kingdom view in the Tower room is the best one when you compare it to Magic Kingdom view rooms at the Polynesian and Grand Floridian. Plus there is the walkway to the Magic Kingdom, when going to Epcot just take the Monorail one stop to the TTC and change to the Epcot Monorail, great restaurants in the California Grill, Chef Mickey's and the Concourse Steakhouse, plus they have some of the best stores to shop in.

Yacht Club.

We stayed there on our first trip and it was so nice.

The location was wonderful, the hotel was quiet and peaceful, the restaurants at it was great, the pool was great...:cloud9:

I'd definitely say Yacht Club.

If we went to Disney again and didn't stay there it wouldn't be the same.

I voted for the Wilderness Lodge. We love this resort, it's gorgeous. Plus, it's nice to have the option of taking the boat to MK.

As much as we love the CR, MK side, if you want an unforegable first impression of a resort, Wilderness Lodge IMO is a jaw dropping, OMG type of first impression.

I had to make that decision last November when I went with my best friend on her first ever trip to Disney. I decided I wanted something on the monorail -- it just makes the magic seem closer in my mind. I had made reservations at CR, as that was all that was available at first, and then I switched to the Poly when that became available. So, my vote is Poly.

I guess I would say, if there's a particular reason to choose one theme over another due to personal interest in one, then go with that. If not, I think the monorail resorts are fabulous for an introduction to Disney. As much as I love WL and the Epcot area, for a first trip, there's nothing quite like a MK view at a monorail hotel.

Thanks for all the opinions so far. I'm crossing my fingers DBF gets the raise he's waiting for so we can actually afford to stay at a deluxe. LOL. I'm also hoping there will be some AP discounts for September. If all else fails we'll be at POFQ. This would be so much easier if DBF actually had an opinion on where he wanted to stay. He's only going to satisfy me but I'm hoping to turn him into a Disney convert.

Since it sounds like this will be a "romantic/propose" trip, in my opinion, it will be hard to beat Poly or GF. WL is awesome too, and if you think he'd like Epcot, YC/BC/BW would be great. Nothing romantic about Contemporary in my opinion...

The little bit extra it costs to stay at Poly, in the long run, isn't that much... and you'll never forget staying there... watching Wishes on the beach... oh, and go to the "quiet" beach over by the Luau -- no music there, but rarely any people either! :)
