Hi everyone,

Just trying to be sure I picked the right deluxe to stay at for our May 2005 land/sea vacation!! I picked the Poly but want to know where everyone else picked and if you liked it? I was going to go with the BC but I heard they put the land/sea guests in a bad location in the hotel. Any suggestions, comments or advice are welcome.

We stayed at the beach club for land/sea.

I didn't think our location was that bad. We had a balcony on the second floor that backed to the woods.

We payed for an additional night while we were there making a 4-day land into a 5-day. Don't know if that made any difference as to where they placed us.

My daughter loved the kids clubs at BC.

My husband and I love going to the Boardwalk at night. Plenty of stuff to look at ....Jellyrolls piano bar...etc....

We stayed at the Polynesian and loved it. Very convenient and right next to the Transportation Center. HTH

We chose the Beach Club and loved it! I asked for a ground floor room near Epcot and got a lagoon view upgrade. The room location couldn't have been better.

Have never stayed at the Polynesian, so can't compare. But we stayed at the Beach Club and LOVED it. You can walk to The Boardwalk and enjoy that. We ate hotdogs and french fries on a bench and watched the boats come and go. You can walk into the "back door" of Epcot (lovely path to get there) or down to the boats to MGM. The only park you have to take a bus to is Animal Kingdom. We loved the convenience there and they have a huge pool.

We booked our own:

Wilderness Lodge - Dream Maker Silver

The BC has the best pool! Poly has a tiny snack bar, BC does not, guess it depends on if you want a quick breakfast on the run or a sit down breakfast. Beaches and Cream at the BC is no longer open at breakfast. It is more convenient to get to Epcot and MGM from BC, bus to MK and AK. At Poly, to MK is convenient, but to get to Epcot must get on 2 monorails, bus to MGM and AK. We stayed in a studio room at the Boardwalk and that was nice because it had a refrig and microwave.

To get to MK from BC, you can also go in through Epcot and walk to the monorail at the front of the park.

Hmmm decisions, decisions but fun ones right? Keep the opinions coming. I booked for the Poly but my TA said she would go for the BC. I have an 11 yr old dd but I think we'll spend an equal amount of time between MK, MGM and Epcot this trip so that's not an issue. I think she'll like the SOB but I was a bit concerned with the area being so large that I won't be able to see her all the time while she's getting in line for the slide and I'll be a nervous wreck 1000 x over until she slides down. She's at that delicate age now where she can be quite independent but is turning into a young woman too and I don't like leaving her unattended ya know! I'm sooo up in the air wondering if the Poly is the right choice and I want this to be so perfect because it's a special present for her.

Thanks for all the replys so far . . .

We stayed at BC too. But our kids love swimming, slides and the pool, so it was worth it. The room was fine, had small balcony that had tree-blocked view of epcot. We ate at beaches and cream a few times, as well as walking over to boardwalk, it was very convienent. The bus service to the parks was OK, they arrived every 20 minutes or so.

Last time w/stayed at GF, was great being on the monorail. Rooms same size, nicer lobby and public areas.

We will probably try Poly next time! Keep us posted!

We chose the BC this time only because we stayed at the Poly on 1997 and we wanted to try a different resort. But I heard nothing but good things about it.

However, after staying at the Poly I would say it is definately my favorite resort (to this point, we'll see after December 19th).

Beach Club!

We have stayed there many times, including 2 land/sea trips. Room locations were great, even got upgraded to a water view room. Going to the Beach Club is like going home to us. It's such a comfortable relaxed place. The convenience to all the parks is great, the restaurants are great, the pool, is well SAB!

I understand your feeling about having an 11 yr old, but if she can't be safe at disney, where can she be? I don't mean let her go out to the pool by herself, but she will certainly be fine going on the slide alone. As for the other parts of the pool...jump in and enjoy it with her!

:D

Someone just mentioned that in order to get to the slide you have to walk out and around but maybe I'm not understanding it right. I will definitely want to go in the pool too but I want to also have a drink poolside and lay in the sun and I didn't want it to be where I would have to worry because I couldn't see her and she was far away or something.

We have stayed at Poly and love it. We also stayed at the Yacht Club, which is on the same property as Beach Club and enjoyed that too.

You can't beat the transportation at the Poly. You have the monorail, of course, but can also walk to the Transportation and Ticket Center. The atmosphere is beautiful and tranquil. It seems to be a very family oriented resort. The volcano pool is awesome. Everyone greets you with an "Aloha." We have many fond memories of the Polynesian and are going back soon. I would choose this resort every time when traveling with small children, like my DGS.

I may choose the Beach Club, again, when traveling with older children, (my teen daughter). There is so much to do. The atmosphere is fun and exciting, especially at night. You can't beat walking/boating to Epcot and the boat ride to MGM. Add Beaches N Cream, SAB, and the wonderful dining options at Epcot, to the mix, and it's an excellent choice.

The only thing I miss very much at the Yacht/Beach Club, that you do get at the Poly, is the food court.

You can't go wrong with either choice. Have fun! :sunny:

we stayed at the Poly, added one night making it 4 night on land, 3 full days at the parks and one morning before cruise. We picked Poly for two reasons - it was the most expensive deluxe and slim chance we'd ever pay the rate and MK was our priority park so being on the monorail was excellent. We were a short walk to the TTC to catch the Epcot monorail as well.

We picked AKL, but since we don't go til November, I can't give you my thoughts. I'll get back to you!:p

Another vote for Beach Club! We stayed there for our land/sea this past May and will be doing the same next year - it was nothing short of perfect. Good luck with your decision - no matter what you choose I'm sure it will be perfect

We chose AKL. We are animal lovers so it made sense to us to stay there. We don't go till the beginning of March so we got a long wait.

Thank you everybody for the details on the different resorts. I love to hear everything you all have to say especially since I've never stayed in a deluxe. I just want this to knock my princess: socks off!! I think what I may do is give her the gift for Christmas and then let her be part of the planning process. Not that me a disney obsessive planner hasn't already planned everything possible at this point but . . . I can always switch resorts or a meal here or there at that time

Tinkerbellmagic - thanks you gave me another way of looking at staying at the BC because my dd will be much closer to being a teen than a little one and she may like the nightlife there. As far as the food goes, well it's still pizza and chicken nuggets for her  Can't win them all!! Thanks everybody.

I agree with tinkerbellmagic who said you can't go wrong with either resort.

I love the Poly because I think it is beautiful with a gorgeous pool & the best thing, in my opinion, is the convenience of transportation with the monorail right to it. It has been several years since I stayed there because everyone in my family always wants to try new spots. If you had a very young child I would suggest staying there just because of the convenience of the monorail.

However, I think your 11yo would enjoy the BC much more because of the fantastic pool, the beach & the boardwalk & all of the things to do right there. To get onto the (big & fun) slide you must walk across the sidewalk to the beach side. The pool is sandbottom & is a lot of fun, even for adults.:teeth:

My husb. & I enjoyed sitting on the swing on the beach at night looking at all of the lights & night activity. It is an easy walk to EPCOT & we enjoyed the boats over to it, also.

It sounds like we got the same type of room as others who mentioned what they had - facing the woods. I don't know if these are considered 'lower quality' or not, but we loved them. They were quite a distance from the main lobby, but they were quiet & peaceful & big rooms & we loved the decor. As I said before, the BC is now our favorite resort!!::yes::
