Which Dell laptop?

I have configured 2 Dell Laptops... not sure which one to buy...

Inspiration E 1505 Inspiration E 1705

15.4 inch screen 17 in screen
Duo Proc T 2500
Windows XP
1 GB ram 533 MHz
cd/dvd burner
Microsoft Office
6 cell Lithium Battery
4 year warranty - includes accidental damage
$1306 $1584

A cool thing I found in my research is a wireless/bluetooth connection - with bluetooth you can download your cell phone pics (never knew what to do with those!) but it is also used with wireless printer connection! Maybe that's old news, but it's news to me!

The only difference is the screen size. Not sure if the 17 inch screen and extra weight of the larger unit is worth over $200 more.

Laptop Users - please give advice!

I'm not bashing only concered as we have to use Dells for work and they do get very hot.

I have the E1505 but recommend you get the E1705. My E1505 is great, and only a few months old, but it seemed to be an in-between model, discontinued very soon after release, in favor of the E1705, so there won't ever been that many of them around, which isn't a good thing in computers.

I just got the e1705 a couple of weeks ago. I think the big difference between mine and what you've configured is that I went ahead and put 2GB of RAM in there. I also upgraded the screen to the "nice" one and it is really nice.

I really like it...I was mostly buying a desktop replacement though - I don't carry it around on airplanes and into coffee shops to work etc. It is pretty large and heavy for a notebook computer. I do carry it over to the couch and work with it on my lap and I take it out on the back deck etc, but I don't have to lug it all over the place.

If portability is a big issue for you, definately go with the 15 inch.

I vote for...the Toshiba one.

Dell has gone drastically downhill over the past couple years in both quality of product and in service (and since I manage a help desk and deskside support organization, I can show metrics that back that up ). I can assure you that my next personal laptop purchase will not be a Dell.
