Hi all. My dh and I have decided to take a quick 3-4 day getaway to So Cal for our 10 year anniversary. We aren't able to get away longer due to his vacation days and trying to keep costs down. Initially we wanted to do DL/CA for two days and Catalina Island for one but I had no idea that two day hoppers cost so much! $132 each. Yikes! Are there any deals with these going on that I don't know about?

If not, then we will just go one day, and probably just do DL for $66 since it would cost us an extra $50 to both do CA as well. We just went to DL/CA for 3 days in October and plan to go again in November with the kids so it's not a huge deal if this is all we can do this time.

If we only go one day, which day would you pick? Sunday 3/9 or Tuesday 3/11? Do you think there will be a significant difference in crowds? Fireworks are showing on both days. Fantasmic is only on Sunday but I'm leaning towards not seeing it this time and focusing on the fireworks for the nighttime show anyway. Hours on Sunday are 8-12am, Tues are 9-11pm.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I am familiar with all the rides and using park hoppers and such. We will be staying at my grandparent's house instead of a hotel.

Also, if you have any tips on the best way to get to Catalina Island (thinking Catalina Express) and hotels there, as well as things to do that are inexpensive that would be wonderful. Thanks! :flower3:

I think you might be having spring break crowds during that time if I'm not mistaken. But, I will always pick a mid week like Tuesday or Wednesday generally speaking, although Sunday morning usually finds many people leaving to head back to where ever they drove in from, etc. So, crowds will probably be thinned out. So, I would probably go with Tuesday, but either day would probably be okay.

Typically Tuesdays have been MUCH lighter crowds than Fri/Sat/Sun on our trips! I would pick Tuesday......unless it means you have to miss any shows or parades only showing on weekends.;)

Why not Monday? (Both Sun & Tues are MM days, which you won't have).

I'm betting both days will be crowded but Sunday afternoon & early evening more so.

I've actually been to Disneyland a lot on Tuesdays. It is great! There is very little crowds and it is easy to get on rides right after one another. I was even surprised at how P.O.T.C. didn't have a line at all when I went.

So, lol, I think you should go on a Tuesday.

There's some sort of cheerleader :cheer2: thingy happening over that weekend, but then I think Spring break starts soon after, so that's why they'd have fire works going on that Tuesday night. Sounds like they're expecting crowds both days... :confused3

I'd probably plan to go on the Tuesday, but it's close... Both Spring Break crowds and cheerleader crowds sound like a terrible idea to me...

Having said that, I will actually be going on the Sunday, because my plane leaves Monday night... :guilty:

Thanks so much for the input everyone!! Guess what, I was able to cut costs elsewhere so we are able to do 2 days at DL/CA after all. Now if only there were deals on 2 days for non-So Cal people. ;) We've decided to do Disney on Sunday and Monday and Catalina Island Tues-Wed. Has anyone been there? We are staying at the Pavilian Lodge.
