First trip with the family and we're planning on going to Chef Mickey's for supper? We're spending 6 nights on site getting a 5 day hopper plus package. Should we do the character dinner before we hit the parks or save it for the end? Our children's first time there.

For our recent trip we had our last meal at Chef Mickeys. We planned it that way thinking DS would need all week to warm up to the characters (he had just turned 2) and maybe by then he would enjoy them. Boy we were wrong! He loved them from the first time he saw them. In fact at Chef Mickeys that was the 7th time we saw Mickey. It was a nice way to end our trip, but after dinner doing a lap on the monorail gazing at MK sure was sad knowing we were leaving the next morning.

I would say somewhere right in the middle. With a trip that long, you should plan a "rest day" where you can take your time, lounge by the pool, maybe some DTD shopping, then head over to your character meal.

I wouldn't do it right in the beginning of your trip, b/c you never know how kids will react to the characters. You don't want to freak them out right away.
