Which day should I do Disneyland vs California Adventure?

DH and I are visiting DLR in January. We are doing 1 day at each park as part of a broader SoCal trip. I originally planned on doing Disneyland on Tuesday the 12th and California Adventure on Wednesday the 13th because I'm more excited about California Adventure as it has more things we aren't as familiar with (we're WDW veterans). Looking at the early entry hours, though, I'm thinking of changing my plans. We're staying off site so won't have access to early entry, on both days the park we were planning on visiting has early entry. If I swap them, we'll avoid early entry. What do you think? Will the difference in crowds be worth it? I hate to miss out on low crowds early in the morning because people were already let in ahead of me, but I don't want to be disappointed by going to Disneyland second. Thoughts?

I would absolutely avoid the park that has early entry. It's not a deal-breaker, but if you don't have an affirmative need to be in the park that has it, I'd say it would be better to avoid it.

I agree, I think it's generally better to avoid the park that has early entry. For DCA I don't think it's *as* big of a deal, but for Disneyland rides like Peter Pan, Alice, and Matterhorn are extremely popular during EE and their lines tend to never recover throughout the day as there is no FP for any of them. So if riding any of those rides is important to you I'd consider swapping days!
