I understand MM is each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at Disneyland.

Which day to you think will be best for us in October?

We arrive in LA on Friday (9th October) morning early hours after a 12 hour flight from New Zealand and will travel down to Anaheim. I take it we will be pretty shattered after the long travel so will want to catch up on some sleep on the sat morning.

So that leaves the Tuesday or the Thursday for MM.

I have not bought our Disneyland tickets yet put are looking at the park hoppers for this.

The Thursday 15th will be our little girls 5th birthday and we will fly home late at night on Friday 16th December.

The general rule of thumb around here for using your MM: The MM day with the earlier time and the earliest day in your trip is usually better. For example, a MM that starts at 7 am is much better than one that starts at 9 am. Fewer people are willing to drag themselves out of bed for a MM earlier than later. Later MMs are more crowded. You and your family will be more tired later on in your trip, so it will be harder to get everyone up and moving early for a MM on your last day than on your first. Does this make sense? However, you know your family best. And the best day for a MM is the day when your family is feeling up to it, the least tired, not sick, and ready to go! After all, it doesn't matter that the parks may have really low crowds in FL and TL if your family is dragging, sniffling, and very crabby. That just doesn't make for a very magic morning! So, since you'll be traveling a long way, play things by ear. Double check the MM times for your dates -- because Disney can change those (rare, but it does happen) -- and try to hit the MM day with the earlier start time. But watch to see which day your family has the most energy. And go from there!
And, go for the park hoppers if the budget allows -- hopping is so easy at DLR! And it allows you to take full advantage of MP, too.

Theluckyrabbit is right on here and I will just emphasize that a 7am MM is much better than a 9 am one. Not sure what your park hours will be but the earlier MM the better.
