Dec. 2-5 or Dec. 9-12 - both Wed-Sat? We have gone a few times the first weekend in December but Friday and Saturday got crazy busy (I am guessing because of the candlelight processional) or is that typical about weekends in December?

I think the earlier the better in December, although you're probably OK with both. It may also depend on when the Candelight processional happens - that usually will bring crowds. We always go in December and now have a rule that it must be in the first two weeks and not around the CP - that is impossible for us this year so we're going the first week of January instead.

Unless Disney surprises us and extends Candlelight to more nights, for some reason, the first night of Candlelight should be Saturday, 12/5, and crowds will pick up. But, really, any weekend during the holiday season is going to be very busy -- especially this year, with all of the 60th anniversary stuff going on in the parks. It's just that Candlelight will bring extra people. Last year there was a nearby pharmacy convention (many of the attendees were staying at DLR hotels and visiting the parks before their convention activities commenced) and also some event called Raver Day happening in the parks over Candlelight weekend, so the crowds were worse than in previous years.

just remember that Wednesday will the be least busy day in the mornings during those two Christmas weeks and plan that time for riding in the morning and schedule other activities on the remaining days.
