I have tickets for a day at the parks that I should have used last month but had to return from a trip unexpectedly. I'm trying to fit a trip to California in just to spend a day at Disneyland/CA Adventure since they expire at the end of the year, but with my work travel schedule it is rough.

If you had a choice between Saturday, October 22nd and Saturday, December 17th what would you pick? We'd love lesser crowds, but I realize one is near Halloween, the other is near Christmas, so I'm assuming it may be a toss-up regardless.

Do you have a holiday preference? HalloweenTime is lots of fun and HolidayTime is beautiful. Both times will have crowds. I would let your choice of holiday determine your date.

so on Saturday the 22nd you have folks in the park who flew in for the friday party. The 17th may work as Christmas is on the weekend and maybe folks are skipping that Saturday, to be in the park for the weekend of 24/25. Hard to believe that folks flying in for the whole week would visit the park knowing that many locals would be there for the weekend As for lesser crowds, not going to happen.

Will be very crowded either day. If you are staying in a hotel I'd check the differences in prices. Either day will be a great time. Enjoy.

As others have said, both days are going to be very busy. October 22 is part of the UEA weekend, where a lot (all?) of the school districts in Utah are out for an Educators Association conference. There is usually a pretty good crowd in the parks from folks taking advantage of the long weekend to see HalloweenTime. HalloweenTime itself is also very popular, so most all weekends are going to be busy.

December 17th is the last Saturday that the Signature APs have before their seasonal blockouts go into effect (lower level APs are already blocked out). So I would anticipate a fairly good sized crowds as folks come into the parks one last time to see the Holiday offerings until after New Years. That's also the first weekend where one day park ticket pricing goes to peak prices, so that's another indicator that high crowds are expected.

So, as theluckyrabbit said, it's really a matter of whether you'd rather experience HalloweenTime or the Holidays. Both days are going to be crowded, so I'd go with whichever seasonal event sounds/looks the most interesting to you.
