We're looking at a long weekend trip in Decmber and I need some advice.

Fri. Dec. 12 - Tues. Dec. 16. (4 Nights)
OR
Wed. Dec. 17 - Mon. Dec. 22. (5 Nights)

I would prefer 5 nights but am concerned about the Christmas crowds. I usually go the week after New Years which seem to have moderate to heavy crowds to me. How will the crowds the weekend before Christmas compare?

The FIRST one!! I know it's one less night, but the crowds you will encounter starting on the 20th will make that extra day a waste anyway. The 12-16th will be much less crowded. You'll need to work around the MVMCP, but if you have hoppers, this can be a bonus. Go to MK during the day when there is a party, then hop somewhere else in the evening. MK on party nights is a great day to tour since most people don't want to "waste" a ticket on less hours. You'll need/want to hop to MK one evening without the party so you can enjoy the night-time entertainment, but that's easily doable.
