i can't see sweden or any of the other scandinavian countries joining the showcase.

The scandanavia countries are very similar (not the same but similar) in culture, architecture, cuisine, etc.

Similarly i can't see Ireland joining, the difference between EIRE an Northern Ireland (which is part of the UK) is a political line & different primary churches, stuff like the architecture, cuisine, etc are the same.

looking at the list of possible countries suggested, i'm suprised that UAE hasn't been built, considering the huge amount of money been spent in places like dubai on buildings more for looking at than using, there shouldn't be to much trouble getting a sponsor to build it.

It is way over the top, gaudy looking even. There is a Christmas tree on a cathedral It is nearing on looking tacky.

It is one of those things that is most certainly worth seeing with your own eyes though and I love Barcelona.
